I am picking up some of the Rubicon Moab wheels for the CRD. It will get a 1.5"/2" daystar lift. I am thinking of going with 255/70's rather than 245/75's. Anybody using the 255 size out there? How about a couple of pics.

I just picked up my Rubi rims (5 for $250 and smiling all the way!!!) I'm in the same boat as you on tires but I cannot lift my KJ due to wife reasons! I'll be interested to see what answers you get. If I end up trying before you, I'll let you know.

I am leaning towards trying the 255/65/16. There are a couple of ppl who have 255/70/16 on stock vehicles and swear they will only rub very minor. I am leaning towards the lower profile because it is so close to the stock diameter but still has the added width. If/when the KJ gets lifted I think this tire on a rubi wheel will still look good, and wont have the issues of the speedo or rubbing at all.

Maybe next week I will decide to go 255/70/16 as so many have. Wish someone had pics of the 255/65/16.

I'm definately going to the 255/70/16's after seeing/reading this. I do 99.5% of my driving on the road with only minor gravel offroad stuff so guess a "little" rubbing won't bother me enough not to have all the meat I can on the road.

The rumor mill believes the CRDs ride a touch higher in the fron than the gassers. Also the rubi's have a different offset than the factory wheels. This should work in your favor, as it will get the 255 further away from the sway bar.

Maybe 255/70 is the way to go then.

First, The deal on the Rubi's was just a LOT of time spent on line searching the various Jeep clubs websites. These have about the mileage from the dealer to the tire shop as the guy who bought them just did a swap the same day he took delivery. Also, it took me about a 2 hour drive each way to where he was located but hey, brand new Rubies for $250!!!

Okay, now, this topic of offset with the Rubies allowing me to run the 255/70's....I'd like to focus on that and get some answers if possible. I'm about to lay out a lot of $$ for 5 tires and want to get it right as if I don't, there's no going back to the wife and saying "ooops!!" Know what I mean. I get one shot at the piggy bank on this move so it's got to be right.

Well, my saga continues. Just back from my local tire shop after trying on 255/70/16's and 245/70/16 with my prized Rubi rims.

The 255's rubbed all over the place in the front (didn't even try the rears). Slipped on a 245 and it rubbed enough that I'd be forced to trim some plastic AND bend over the body seam on rear of the wheel well. Not something I really want to do!

The wheel diameter of the 245's works, just with the offset of the Rubi's it doesn't.

ANY SUGGESTIONS???????????

I think you probably need to have it lifted. Alot of people run the rubi rims w/ 245/75R16 with minor rubbing, but they are lifted.
