Those look good. Did you pound down the pinch weld?

Thanks! No I haven't yet. What do you guys typically do with the plastic that goes over it? I don't hit it, it just scrapes it. I can see a section on there and on the front of the plastic liner. I might just sand it down an see how it clears. So far they are great, I can't wait to get them in the snow.

I picked up a set of these as well.

So far have only had them out in the torrential rain we have been having in the area. Performed really well. Very quiet and stable. I want to get them in some snow soon to really test them out.

It depends on the size of tires you run. If you go a tad bigger than you will need to remove the plastic liner and pound down the pinch weld with a hammer. Once the pinch weld is flat, then you can try heating the plastic and fold it over smooth. There are a few guys on here such as 2006 KJ who have done a nice write up about it.

I thought I had read something about the heating them up thing before but wasn't sure. So far they run great, I'll really pass my judgment in the snow and if they last longer then a year. I've never been a fan of goodforayears!

sweet, that like is good info for when I get to tackling it... The only thing I'm not liking about the tires so far is that they hold dime to nickle size stones in the tread blocks. The first time I found one I thought something was wrong with my KJ because I heard this clicking sound which turned out to be a stone stuck in the tread...

The more I read about these tires, the more I like them. Does Tom, (or anyone else) have any more updates? By looking at the tread pattern, I would think they would be noisy going down the road........ But you guys say it's fairly quiet huh?

Theres a little hum from them at 40-50 MPH or so but nothing that you can not still hold a conversation in the vehicle yet. You can just tell they are there is about it. Ride and handeling continue to be good. Just wet roads and some mud is all, no snow yet Thank goodness!

Picking up rocks ...well they all do to some extent even the BFG ATs did, but it doesn't hurt a thing.
I was a BFG ATs fan for years but the last set changed my mind and I like the DuraTracs plus they look good!

Sounds good Tom, I think they seem to be one of the most versatile tires that I've ever seen. Keep us updated as they wear, I know you drive a ton of miles.........

Hey Tom - as you recall we recently had a discussion on Nitto tires but from what I've read here between you and tumanator, I just might be sold on these tires. I have one question, are these Dura-Trac's true blackwall tires (as in no white letters)?

No, I don't like white letters. After taking a second look at the pic of your KJ, I noticed the white letters on the inside. I don't care for that either but those tires do look great on your Jeep.

Decisions, decisions...

I never really see the white letters on mine anymore, well until I crawl under her to wash her belly every week!
I like the tires so far ride really good and just enough tire noise that you know they are JEEP type tires  . Have gotten a lot of looks and compliments from others, guess it gives it a more "manly look"
I have a couple of trails back through the woods down home, one hill I always had to lock it in when wet with the BFG ATs and the Kumhos , these walked right through and up over the other day.

Get some tire black oddball and be done!

Mine are true blackwalls. I think it depends on which size you order.

In my case 225 is too small. I'd go with 265 (255 min).

I have these in 215/85 size. They make some noise below 25mph and around 45mph. They are excellent in the snow but just about any new tire is good in the snow. Ride is stiffer than old tires but I expected that. Very quiet at 65mph. I'm happy so far. I'll reserve judgement until I get some more mileage on them. Only have 4000 miles on them.
