That's way I'm hesitant on buying any Goodyear, they seems too wear too quick, they wouldn't last 25K on my 7000# mule.
I was wondering about how they would wear cause I really like the tread, etc, but now that makes me wonder.
Glad you guys are happy though, all that matters.

Ya need to put some 35's on that thing. That way they turn less revolutions therefore prolonging the life of the tire. I did see the duratracs on a s-10 blazer in a 35 and they looked AWESOME

Except for MT/R's I can only wish for 25,000 miles out of my tires.

I'll add my 2 cents worth on the Dura-trac updates.... I'm at bout 10,000 on mine an they still look new... They handle great, I don't get the slipping on wet pavement luckily... I have no experience with these in mud yet, but they handle all other stuff ( dirt, street, snow, light sand ) so far... I have to say this is so far a good product from Goodyear, it might just be changing my opinion about them....

Tom,

Any problems putting the rear spare on with that size tire? I've read the lift glass won't open without a mod. Thanks, Rob

my 245/70-17 spare is on with no problem, it only has a slight slight ( AKA if you get distracted you'd never know it ) rub... Doesn't hinder the window open or close even a second......

i have the Duratracs.. in the size 245/75/16... spare tire does prevent the window from opening on mine.. need 2 hands to shut.

i am used to it. i do know that they do make an adapter for it.. and i assume a couple of washers can salve the problem as well

Try flipping over the carrier and see if that helps,
I don't have any problems

I have Duratracs in 235 70R15 on my 2005 CRD since a few months now.
On the road, i always thought they are great for mud tires. Wearing out a bit fast but this is something i can compromise with if they take the road well as they do.
Off roading is great, mud ejects quite well, they hold on stones in the thread after a gravel path but who cares...
I truly beleive that the limit of these tires are when you go too low in pressure and specially in heavy conditions: i mean when you have to go down in pressure to increase the grip and still expect a solid, shock resistant tire...
See below my experience after i brought them down to 2 kg (=2 bar) during a 4x4 event in Froggy Land (raid Bleu)
Image

the side wall just got torn out...twice...on rocks hidden on the trail. (ok serious rocks... :dizzy: )
Comparing the Duratrac flex with the KM2 mounted at 1.8 Kg on heavier vehicule (Range Rover), the Duratrac seemed really soft.
So, for soft off roading and on-roading, it is an excellenet tire, but for long distance expedition or serious terrain, i am not convinced...anymore...

lot depends on wheel width and tire size on both tires and vehicles.
The KM2 is a good tire but heavier as well
Its always a compromise when buying tires,
Most people do not do long expeditions nor wheel off road every weekend
but comparing
using a 265-75-16
Duratrac weighs 45 lb and load rating of 2470
KM2 weighs 53 lb and load rating of 3415
MTR with Kevlar 53 lb and 3415
so yes the KM2's are a heavier built tire and will allow you to drop pressure more due to design, build of the tire etc, with wheel width comparable on both
Is the KM2 better?? in some cases it is
but for overall DD and some weekend fun....the Duratracs hard to beat I think
at least for where a lot of us live. Now if I lived in AZ for instance and could wheel 10 miles down the road, no snow to deal with then my preference may change some :2cents:
Are there other comparable tires out there, sure there are

Yeah, that probably could have been avoided if you were running a 245, 255, or 265 tire on a 7” rim. 235 is too narrow for airing down if you’re trying to avoid the risk of blowing a bead.

fwiw ive heard of the duratracs having soft sidewalls being they are a 2 ply sidewall but havent actually seen any cut up tires. tire size definitely doesnt help though.

ive had duratracs "31x10.5x15" for about 3000 miles and am getting more disapointed each day with them not for the performance but the life. they wheel great and are quiet also but are wearing like crazy. they have what looks like little chunks and cracks on the tread already. other than that they ride like a champ.

MMM no chunks or anything with mine and over 18,000 miles
They are down to between 14-15/32s of tread left

You do a lot of sharper rocks etc or ????

35k on mine, looks like about 9/32's and I don't know how many people have abused these tires like I have but even though they are showing some signs of wear no chunks missing. I can definately say that the parts driving these tires have not held up as well as the tires.

it may just be a difference in the compound used for the different lots of tires that caused the chunking, continental has ran into that issue a BUNCH

so in terms of cracking and chunking, it's almost a roll of the die

Probably at around 20000 miles on mine and they have around 14/32nds left as well. Tread still in great shape.

Those would be load range C tires, there going to wear faster then a D or E range tire.

Oh and just remember that the Duratrac's are AT's and will always be subpar to MT's when offroad so don't judge them against MT's.Plus rim width has a great factor on if the tire will hold the bead seal when aired down, the narrower the rim the better if you do not want to pay the price for beadlocks.

Tell ya what... I'll judge mine against the MTR's anyday on or off road. At least anywhere I've been they have run with the MTR's without breaking a sweat.

i figured it had something to do with the 31s over something on a 16 rim. i have a 15x7 rim if that helps wear them diffrent. I shouldnt say chunks but more like a pea sized hole on two on my tires and alittle bit of cracking on top of the tread.
also i live in va so all we really have is jaged rock and mud. Even though they are an AT tire ied put them against an mt tire the same size as mine anyday.
