245-75-16 and 265-70-16 are about the same height
255-70-16 are a little bit shorter

255-70 30.1
265-70 30.6
245-75 30.5
so not that much difference
on the KJ a 245-75-16 looks pretty good
have some pics here somewhere

thanks Tom. I meant to say 255-75-16. Which should be smack dab in the middle of the 245-75-16 and 265-75-16 right?
The diameters are very close, but the appearance in width is pretty noticable. I am trying to go as big and wide as possible without regearing. I would idealy like to go with the 265 but I dont want to be stuck having to drive with the overdrive off all the time.

I guess my original post of 255-70-16, which was a mistake lol, was actually the better pick. I believe these are a little wider than the 245-27-16 and a little smaller diameter of 30.1 which means I wont need a regear :BANANA:
Now to find some pics of 255-70-16 on a frankenlifted kj to see how they actually look!

40,000 plus mile update
So on 9/25/09 I purchased a set of 265-75-16 Duratracs with 18/32 of tread and had 129,865 miles on her according to the odometer
So with that now I am at 169,200, (which is off some yet due to tire size etc. showing less than actual mileage ). But they now are down to 12/32-13/32s of tread on the average
These at least for me are doing great, better than I thought they would really.

I've only put about 1/10 the miles of Tom on mine, but I like them in the snow. I've taken them up over the mountain passes on paved road covered with compact snow and ice and never had to chain up, but I was in 4Hi. I've also used them many times on unpaved forest roads through deep snow and also never had a problem. I've been up some relatively steep grades with them in deep snow and maintained good traction while in 4Hi. I usually stop when my bumper turns into a plow, but I've always been able to get going and I've never been stuck. This is my first winter with them, but I go up snowshoeing or climbing 2-3 times a month.

Nice! This will be my next tire for sure. Tom, what size, load range, and PSI are you running?

It's certainly more firm than stock, but I wouldn't call it harsh. With the stock tires cornering felt very unstable but with the DuraTracs it feels much better. The ride markedly improved with the tires.

mine go like CRAZY in snow,ice,slush,rain,deep snow... plus they are more quiet then my KM2's (even with the studs)

after about 5k miles this winter i can see a noticeable amount of wear... especially on the rear since i have a detroit locker that scrubs them a lot on sharp corners. very nice tires over all... and i would recommend them to any KJ owner.

they are 31x10.5 15's on 15x7in wheels with 3.75in backspacing. (cheap summit soft 8 knock offs) all 4 studded tires, wheels, mounted and balanced, for well under $1000

UPDATE
So pulled the paperwork out today to make sure
and I now have 189,790 miles
installed 129,865
so may as well say 60,000 miles on the Duratracs
since the speedo runs slow anyways by a bit
Rotated every 3500 miles on the average
They now have an average of 8/32 of tread left on them
Yes they will need to be replaced before winter
BUT they still have a lot of wear left
Tread is straight across, no irregular wear etc

As quiet as when they were installed
just keep them rotated
