I am wondering the difference between and the actual sizes

245x75x16 stock wheels

265x70x16 stock wheels

and what is the biggest size on a standard 2.5" lift

I have already cut the air dam off my stock bumper and i really dont want to use wheel spacers.

Go to tirerack.com and compare the specs of the actual tires by brand. They can vary some by manufacturer.

245/75 on stock wheels work very well with 2.5" lift and the air dam trimmed.

stock rims with 265-70-16s may give you some rub due to being wider on the sway bar when fully turned
Now without knowing what lift you have hard to say. 2.5 inch lift is a generic term these days, depends on type of lift etc, you may have 2.5 inches up to 3 inches or more from an advertised 2.5.
Tires are about the same way, one brand and style maybe 30 inches and the same size in a different brand maybe 30.5 , then if you throw the Treadwrights into the mix its a lot more confusing.
So what type of lift, anything added to lift, and what type or brand of tires.

As IC stated 245-75 on stock wheels will fit with minimal rubbing

Also have you pounded over the pinch weld?

I think I am gonna go with the treadwrights I like the MTR's

as far as lift I am not sure I was thinking about the rough country. I would like to get an OME or Frankenlift but I cant afford it at this time so I am gonna get the spacer lift for now.

which one is the best?

you'll never do a 235-85 with a spacer lift, sagging springs etc will not give you enough room plus will need to regear and I know you won't want to do that since you want to cheap out on a lift

IF YOU THINK you want to do a spacer lift at the very least get a Daystar, will work for a few months. ROUGH COUNTRY = CRAP
get new shocks all the way around with the daystar and also front bumpstops, by the way for 150 more or so now you can have a real lift :wink:

Daystar , 4 shocks, front bumpstops and 4 245-75-16 Treadwrights cheap as you can go

Please reread the above posts , I stated before that if you wanted to go cheap then Daystar was good. Remember if you have over 30,000/35,000 miles on the KJ then the springs/shocks are already sagged so even if you get a 2.5 inch Daystar lift you may not actually get 2.5 inches from factory height. If you have a budget of 500 I would seriously save a little bit more and get a full spring OME lift. Better ride, handling, will last ten times longer than a spacer type lift.
To do a spacer type lift you have the lift 150/175 , front shocks 200, rear shocks 125 front bumpstops 40 , for another 160 you can have a full spring lift

all above are close estimates

Oh no one has ever said you were dumb, only trying to tell you that there are good ways and bad ways to lift one. Too many have went the cheaper route only to come back a few months and did it with a full spring

thanks for all the info, which shocks would you suggest with the daystar (keep my cheap budget in mind :wink:

) also where do I get the bumpstops that I will need. I have 45k on my KJ. Will I need new springs before I can run 245x75x16 on stock wheels? I just dont have 700$ for a OME or Frankenlift, my offroading is basically limited to camping in state parks so this lift is more for looks. I dont wanna say that I am Cheap but I do try to do things inexpensive, I make alot of things myself instead of buying. Like I said thank you for the info Tom and I will probably be relying on you and the others here alot.

Going to a full spring set up has nothing to do if you are going off road or not. Actually a full spring is better for on road since it is upgrading the suspension system instead of doing a band aid fox to it. Full spring will let the KJ handle the roads better, be much better riding KJ than stock etc. Some people have the idea that you only need to do a full springs if you are going off road when in fact it is almost the opposite! I have upgraded the suspension on every vehicle I have owned and it makes a world of difference in drivability!

Bure Agahili is a Swahili saying for Cheap is expensive.
Many times what you think is the cheap way turns out to be the most expensive. There is a post on LOST right now with someone who has a spacer lift with blown front shocks , not cheap if he has to pay someone else to change them out and buy new shocks :wink:

Listen to Rev. Mudd and the others about recommendations. I have a Daystar. Don't have any real complaints about it, but I can tell you that my stock springs are sagging. I put the lift on at about 20k miles. Have about 41k now and it is sitting about 3/4 inch lower now than when new and settled in. Will eventually get OME 927's and ditch the Daystar up front. So that will be teardown #3 up front and 3 alignments. Would have saved $$$ if I'd just gone OME to start. Oh Well.

But if you are set on Daystar, search for somewhere that still has the Daystar Kit Number KJ09115BK. That kit has the extended bump stops included as well as new sway bar bushings too. Same price as the 116, 117 kits.
