lots better in all ways then the ones you have listed

Well its that time, i was hoping to escape winter before buying tires but the 2 nails in my 2 rear tires from construction made short work of that! What is everyone running here? Any recommendations? Ive been learning towards some Goodyear Duratracs but it is my DD so i need good tread life too! |

Last week, I bought a subscription to Consumer Reports so I could search for some tire test data. Looked at all-terrains, eliminated about half of the tested products, and evaluated those that interested me. Next, I assigned the tests that were conducted to different tiers of importance (as they suited me) and for what it may be worth, here are the results: 1 - Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 - Pirelli Scorpion ATR 3 - Firestone Destination A/T 4 - Michelin LTX A/T 2 5 - Toyo Open Country A/T 6 - Cooper Discoverer ATR 7 - Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor 8 - General Grabber AT 2 Depending on how I manipulated the data, the top five above were usually the top five, but in a different order. The caveat for the above ranking, however, is that they were only tested on the road. I hope it helps somewhat. Edited to add: Another caveat, the tires tested were P-metric. |

I don't think the test was very recent since the Revo 2s, Dura Tracs, and Hankook RF10s were not included. BFG TA KOs weren't either since this was a P-metric test only. I have been unable to find any all-brand inclusive reviews of all-terrain tires. Four Wheeler magazine does have some decent reviews, but nothing too conclusive. I guess, the best source is the voice of those with experience. |

Check out tire rack's website too, lots of testing as well as customer reviews compiled. I've heard endless good things about destination A/T's. |

have to say i am happy with my Cooper Discoverer ATR I have just rotated them for the first time at the 3000 mark...... great traction so far rated wonderfully for the snow and wet roads I will get to check out the snow preformance this weekend |

More info on what you plan to do with your jeep would help narrow it down. Some of those on the C.R. list are not very well thought of anywhere but on pavement. Realistically, you should go with a p-rated all-season type if you only do on-road driving in mostly fair weather if longevity, smooth ride, & low noise are concerns. That Pirelli would fit the bill for this, too. If you are willing to trade some of those issues for increase off-road performance, the sky is wide open. I have MT/R's but I would replace them with Duratracs if I need to replace them right now. |

Firestone even rates the Revo2's higher than their own Destination AT's. Yes, basically the same company, hence an interesting rating. I would have gotten the Revo's but there were none available in the Denver Metro area!!! So I got the Destinations. Great tire so far for snow/ice/rain driving. They haven't been off-road yet. Great DD tire at least. But up in the mountains, you want an MT-type tire. |

I was looking not long ago myself. I like Kuhuma road venture but didnt want to pay all the shipping with tire rack. I loved the look of Bridgestone Revo 2's but the Firestone store wanted 750 for a set of 4. There was a Dunlop tire I liked also but what I found I liked and was able to get the best deal on was Hercules Terra Trac AT. I have had then for a few months now and had them in the snow last weekend and they were very very good. I had no problem in full-time on snow covered roads and even my deep un plowed driveway with a foot of snow.
