Third winter on my General Grabber AT2's and they are about half worn. Just finished driving in deep unplowed snow and hard packed snow. The traction is still outstanding. Great snow tires.

Thanks!!! Good to know!!!!

I replaced my Destination A/Ts with Grabber AT2s over the Summer and was VERY happy with how they preformed in the Mud-fest we had up at the 2009 LOST ECS in TN in October.

Good to know that they are good in the snow as well. I got mine at Kauffman Tire in Decatur, GA as they were the only folks around Atlanta that had 5 of the right size (245/75R16) in their warehouse AND could beat TireRack's price.

I already think this is a seriously under-rated tire for off-road use based on price and function, but it is good to hear that they wear well too!!!

I put the Grabber AT2s on my first KJ CRD at 15,000 miles or so. The fellow who bought the Jeep after me just recently got new tires at 95,000 miles. So I now have a documented case where the 255/70-16 General Grabber AT2 has lasted nearly 80,000 miles on a KJ CRD!

That's unreal mileage for an AT...especially an aggressive AT. And I paid $86 each for those tires back in 2006!!

Michelin....eat your heart out.

My only problem is that they copied the BFG T/A KO, and for some reason I can’t get over that. Image

That's why I like them. I didn't have to pay 175 dollars a piece. I got mine put on 2 weeks ago and so far so good.

Not to mention that they took the design of the BFG and improved upon it. The tread blocks are open more for better grip offroad. The outer lugs also have more open passages for water and snow to evacuate the tire more easily. And the tread has more sipes and is studdable for people in extreme Winter climates. So what you get is a tire that works better on and off road compared to the BFG.

Combine that with 60-80K miles on a set of them per reviews from those who have run them, at literally 75% less cost, and you'd be a nut to buy the BFG over the General. This is why at tirerack.com people are putting the General at the top of the list.

The only other AT tire I would consider is the Firestone Destination AT. I ran those before and loved them, but the treadlife wasn't so great on my Ram 1500. I wish that I had given them another try on the KJ though...because the Firestone is quieter and has less rolling resistance than the General.

Another big factor, or at least for myself, is that the General is available in “P” rated sizes whereas the BFG’s are “LT” tires. I would consider the General, but I sure like the Toyo and Nitto A/T's.

This will be my next set of tires, just waiting on my pro comps to finally wear out. 50k on them now and still alot of life left. Aside from a few holes I have had to plug I have been happy with those as well.

kinda off topic but i just got some general exclaim uhp's in 225 45 18 for my altima to go with new rims and i am pretty f$%king amazed with them. at $113 a tire for one of the best rated tires on tire rack they are awesome. any way back to offroading... i fully contemplated getting the at2's for the libby but doing lift and tires at the same time i could not afford the coin so i went for the kumho road venture at's and if you want to talk about bang for the buck---$86 bucks a pop and 10k on them---they look new and i havent had to put it in to 4by except crawling up a mountain pass in northern Washington state going to mount baker for boarding and even then it was just to play in about 8 inches of powder. now i just have to wait till i move back to socal in three months and see how they do at the desert aired down.. i will definitly let you guys know

Scott, I found that to be a great size when I ran them briefly this summer.

I'm presently running the General Grabber HTS in 235/70-16, but I got these tires prior to doing my 2.5" lift, now I'm kinda stuck with these smaller tires until I wear them out....(or hit the lottery)....which ever comes first....

I do plan to replace these tires with the AT2's in either 245/75 or 255/70, and I'd also like to get them on a set of black soft 8's....(but that's only if I hit the lottery)..... :SOMBRERO:

There apparently is a new General Grabber tire that will be available soon:

http://www.fourwheeler.com/techarticles/wheels/129_1007_general_grabber_tire_test/index.html

http://www.generaltire.com/tires/T30/Grabber--Sold-Exclusively-at-4-Wheel-Parts-till-August-1st

I will be interested to see if there is a size that we will be able to use...

EDIT: Currently only available (in 265/75R16) from 4 Wheel Parts:

that tire was designed specifically for the BAJA race that is why it is limited production.

Limited production for now, and limited availability until August 1st. As with all good things, if there is enough interest, there may be expanded size production and distribution... :)

I have had the General Grabber AT2s (245/70/16) for about a week now. I love them, they look mean (for an AT), make very little noise on the highway, cheap, and from what I hear if you rotate regularly they last a while too.........cant beat them. I will buy them again in a heartbeat!!

Going to buy one tomorrow for a spare, since I'm running four used 31x10.5x15's right now. In the next two weeks or so I will buy the rest, lol. 8)
