I have a stock goodyear tire with a screw stuck in the tread and a pretty good scrape in the sidewall. I've already bought a new tire (General Grabber AT2), and I will be mounting it on the stock rim. Is there any point in getting the stock tire repaired? It has < 16k miles on it, tread still looks good, apart from the screw hole. I don't want to drive on it, but I wonder if there is any value in a tire that is repaired vs not?

Jeff fix it & put it on your roof rack & have a second spare :P then it would realy look like a trail pig with 2 spares  ,seriously I would fix it & keep it as a back up you never know, check it once and awhile to make sure it's holding air

Both of my back tires have plugs. Be careful about that sidewall, that could cause a blow out.

I've only got the one spare rim to mount it on, so I'd really only end up with one spare. Plus, the other spare looks like a much better tire.

Would it make sense to repair and sell the leaky goodyear, or is that just wrong? As nice as it would be to have another spare, I think I want to work myself away from the goodyears, esp as I may be getting a lift within a year or two.

The guy at VIP gave me a weird look when I said I wanted to mount another tire. He said "what's wrong with this one? It's holding air". I guess not having the weight of the jeep on it stopped it from losing air - it was down to 25psi right when the puncture happened, and after I filled it back up, I could hear it audibly losing air again.
