So, I finally have 35,000 on the stock tires and want to upgrade either really soon or definitely before next fall. I am stuck between the Revo 2's or the Desti AT's in a 245/70R16 for an unlifted 06. I am having a hard time finding any comparison between these two tires. Is there anyone who has had both? they both have the top rating at tire rack in this size, and the Desti AT's are about $35 a piece less. Any input would be nice, but i will more than likely purchase on of these, unless I go to something like the Hankook Rf10 or the GY Silent Armor.

Thanks in advance

Hi Kniggit, ( I like that, is that a M.P. Holy Grail thing??)
Any how, I just went through the same thing. When I purchased my rig recently I made a deal to got new tires installed,(my choice) so I did comparison on tire rack & read all reviews & made my choice based on where I live (MT) & also on what car dealer service dept. guy said.
I went with the 235/70R16 Dueler A/T Revo 2's. So far they have been great this winter for traction on the snow & ice. I feel like I made the right choice but only time will tell. Read all the T.R.reviews if you haven't already.
Hope this helps.

I wanted Revo 2's also but the local Firestone dealer quoted me $702.45 total for 4 of those.
same dealer wanted $599.21 total for 4 destination AT's

At the Goodyear store the best price I could get on anything decent was $561.55 for a set of 4 Dunlap Rover AT.

What I ended up with was Hercules Tera Trac AT. I got them at a non chain country tire place for $510 total. I think the tread is close to the design of the revo 2's. I have had them out in the snow several times once during the storm we gaot here the weekend before xmas that was about a foot total and I have been very pleased with them. I am very glad I bought them. check them out and see if you can find a dealer.

I got 245's too.

I have the Revo 1's...2's are only slightly different as they tweaked the tread pattern slightly to make them quieter. I got them as the 2 were coming out so I got a great price. They last very long...this is my second set...and they grip until they have no more tread. Work well on and off road.

I know both tires get really good reviews, I was just curious if some one had used both or any combination of the tires I am looking at. I get a company discount through Firestone Complete auto, so I pay a little less per tire than what is listed on Tire Rack. I don't mind waiting a while to see if the Revo 2's get cheaper, if they are better, I had a set on a 4runner that were nice, but was really wondering if the Desti AT is still really good for its price.

it is as MP Holy Grail reference BTW

IMHO, I wouldn't put Bridgestone Revos on a bicycle. Had them on my Tahoe, my dad had them on his truck, my buddy had them on a small SUV, we all hated them. Can't comment on the Firestones though, never ran them.

You will be fine choosing either tire. I run the destination A/T's and love them. They seem to have good grip in snow, slush, dirt, and gravel (have a 2wd so no serious offroading) and they're quiet at highway speeds. A friend of mine got some revo's before heading to colorado for the summer and I have to say those are great tires as well. They're quiet at speed, we were able to do the entire alpine loop and many other jeep trails around Lake city, CO with no problems. I would go with the best deal you can find and leave it at that.

I have also been looking at picking up a set of Revo 2s. I have the earlier generation on my pickup and they are great tires. Made in N. America too...

I don't like how the 235's are shorter than the stock 225's as I don't want to increase my RPMs on the highway. I was looking at the 245s.... Will the 245/70R16s rub without a lift?

Yes 245-70s will fit nicely without a lift
