A very interesting white paper on the subject. http://www.expeditionswest.com/research/white_papers/tire_selection_rev1.html 235/85R16: it's what makes my rig the sexual tyrannosaurus that it is. |

I recall tearing apart that article a few months ago,it's filled with lots of bad info on wide tires. Wonder why all the comp rigs that weigh less then 2500lbs all use 12.50" wide tires or wider, better traction on the rocks and any other surface they happen to be running on. Narrow tires are more prone to receive sidewall damage(internal damage to the plys) when flexed hard in a low psi state, and that is fact from the tire company's own mouth and why many offroad specific tires are now being made in 12.50"+ wide designs, some are going to 14.50's and 16.50's for better traction offroad. |

I guess if you aren't working with much to begin with .5" is a huge difference maker to some... |

The article is about expedition vehicles which if we were to be intellectually honest, is the category 90% of Liberties found off-road fit into. |

No, it was to replace the crappy Discover STT I got for free and I have a MOAB trip in a couple of weeks. The new MT/R comes in June..... for free due to a new deal. But thanks for following my life... make sure you sign up for my fan page on Facebook too.... it's the best way to keep up with JL Rockies with the latest updates.. often up to the minute. |
