Has anyone with Destination A/T's noticed how easy they self clean in mud? Mine will not stay packed and clean with very little spin. So far they are way better than I expected. Flagstone - no cuts...so far Rock crawling - so far so good, nothing extreme for me, thanks Rocks - well wet river rocks - very very well beach - very well street - quiet wet street - best ever Mud - don't understand why they do so darn well Snow - ??? Ice -??? |

just from looking at the tread pattern, it looks like they would be horrible in mud. but you aren't the first person who has said they actually do very well. i'm surprised too. i wonder what it is about them that lets them do better than all the other ATs? |

I'd like to know myself why they clean so well. I can drive through the same stuff (Sticky Black Clay Mud) in my truck with other brand A/T's and I'm 2 inches higher when I come out the other side and it won't clear till I get down the hiway. Thats been my experience with ALL the other A/T's I've run. |

Don't even get me started on mine. Maybe someone could enlighten me on how to get them to self clean. I darn nearly got stuck on level hard ground because my tires turned into slicks. Maybe it was the clay type mud, but they didn't clean till I hit about 30mph on the road and still then it took some time. I don't have any experience with mud so maybe I'm doing something wrong. Back in the rocks, and loose sandy soil we have in new mexico they didn't due too bad. |

Eddo, Welcome to Ohio mud. You're not doing anything wrong, A/T's just don't work in real mud. There's guys that come to Wellsville with A/T's that don't make it 100 yds. up the first grade before the strap comes out when its wet and muddy down there. Wet clay is like trying to drive on greese, it even clogs M/T's, then gravity takes over and you begin to slide. Gets really hairy some days.

Eddo, we ain't had that much rain here for the past year, maybe its the consistancy that allows mine to clear where your muck might be a little wetter. "I've been everywhere man" Ohio clay ain't no better or worse than anywhere else. Be glad to send you a sample. Old River valley clay may come in diff colors but generally the same everywhere. Actually, usually the Darker black the worse, yalls is still brown. Red Stuff (North Cali or Dirty South) ain't no worse either. Trust me...I'm no A/T fan myself. I've always believed they were about useless. Usually when I get buildup, I don't try to clear. I use it to my advantage, kinda like tank tracks. For some reason it gives me a little better traction in the deeper stuff. There is no reason for that Jeep to be stuck...Could have went around that stuff and the tread is only packed...there ain't no tire buildup or big clumps stuck to the side which would not indicate true "clay" Clay will turn a 30" into a 33" real quick. A short walk in shoes would make you about 5" taller |

That is exactly what if felt like Nick. I was driving on greese. I had hard enough time walking around with out slipping. Maybe I just need a set of these if I plan on wheeling in the midwest

Those are nice, but everything that makes a tire streetable makes it worse in the mud. Try a tractor tire These would be better for ya: http://www.mattracks.com/ Watch the videos and tell me you don't want some. |

Ha ha! I thought those tracks only existed in Photoshop. You're darn right I want some. And they'll fit on Jeeps, see the YJ in the snow! |

| Post subject: | My wrangler runs Destination A/T's |
These tires are surprisingly awesome in the mud, although they have thier limitations (as do any all-terrain tire). I am planning on running them on my libby this upcoming summer. The wrangler used to have pirelli scorpion A/T but they wore way to early. The destinations have over 20,000 on them and work great. I work construction so technically this jeep sees off road almost everyday of its life and those tires cant get enough. Unlike my stepchildlike wrangler ST's I would post tons of pics with these tires in action but i cant figure out how to post them with this stupid code language.... [/img] who knows how to use this crap |

ya know i love the Firestone Destination A/T's, when i save up enough for my lift. i'm gonna keep the tires i have now till they die, then just get the same tire but diffeant size |

I finally got my new tires on my rene! 5 Firestone Destination A/T 235/70R16's. I have yet to do any serious off roading, but have taken it in some serious sloppy stone mud mix on a construction site i worked on. And let me tell you. WOWOWOWOWOW they did great! Plus no more crazy tire pressure monitor system going off every other day! I will be testing thier limits on 05/06/07 @ the badlands.... got my fingers crossed. |
