OK, so I've decided to buy 245/70/16's for my '05 Sport stock suspension. I may add an OME lift later on but not right now. I've found these two at about the same prices: Toyo Open Road AT and Mastercraft Courser AT.
I only use the Libby for running around town, don't care for mud riding (too much to clean after), but do tow it behind the motorhome on long trips. Plan to visit deserts, mountains, etc. No hard trails but do want to get off the pavement. So it'll see sand, rocks, dirt, some mud. When I get to places like Moab I'll rent someone else's jeep to run the hard trails.
Any suggestions on which tire might be best?

The only brand I have personal experience with is Mastercraft....and they were excellent tires. I see them on TONS of SUVs and trucks around here. Very popular tire.. I ran them on rocks (sharp rocks), mud, sand, dirt, lots of interstate driving, towing, snow, etc....and never had a single flat. They also balanced well, and cost me much less than BFGs or other brands.

I had the Mastercraft Courser AT2's. They were my previous set of tires before i went to the Drua Trac route.

The tire holds up pretty well for the typical New England winters; snow, ice, sleet etc.. i live on a backroad, and in the winter it is hardly plowed, i didnt have to put the KJ in 4wd when i did have them. they handled great.

Mud: it is not a mudding tire. it is your typical AT tire. the tread does clean them out houwever. and rocks do get stuck inside the tread.

on the highway, they were good. especially in the rain. they were not noisy either

hope this helps

Josh

A ski-boat company makes tires? Sounds dicey.

No, a tire company that makes ski boats :goink:
Went with the Mastercraft Courser AT2's, ride nice on highway, not really any louder than the wore out Wrangler's.

I think you'll like them. I had a set on my 69 Bronco and ran it everywhere including two trips to Key West from Ohio did great on and off the road.
They are made here in Ohio as well, or was??
