Tried looking EVERYWHERE and am not finding anything with over 15/32 worth of tread. I have just got the Kumho A/Ts which are listed at 14/32, which when I had them delivered, looks like 11/32 or 12/32 worth of tread. Is there ANY kind of brand (don't care if it is knock offs either) that sports more than 15/32 in this size? Dang Grabbers AT2 on my old explorer spoiled me........

you can step up to 245/65/17 and go with Firestone Destination AT's. They are a tad more wide which looks sweet. But I had Firestone Destination AT's on my stock KJ and they worked perfectly |

well when they came they looked alot bigger than that. Plus they last for a very long time. I got close to 20K on 2 of them, the other 2 I had to replace due to my alignment being bad and the tread wearing funny, but the 2 had atleast 40% tread on them still. |

Not sure about sizes but i got the hankook dynapro atm and I love them. Rugged enough for offroad yet quiet on the pavement. you do get a slite hum. they handle very well in the wet stuff. Love the rasied H side wall protector. |

Ok, might have found what I was looking for. BFGoodrich makes their A/T in 225/70/17 which sports 16/32 worth of tread. Believe me, I am not a BFGoodrich fan but I might go for these next time. From tire size calculators, 225/75/16 is 29.3 in diameter. The 225/70/17 is 29.4 in diameter. So they SHOULD fit right?

nothing.... D is the most common tire out there. E rated is what you might lose some mpg but with smaller tires it really shouldnt make a big impact |

LetFreedomRing wrote: Any idea what kind of fuel mileage I would lose going to Load range D tires? There’s no reason why you would need a LOAD D tire. They are heavy and your Jeep will ride a little stiffer. If you want sidewall flex, then I would stick with a P rated tire. As for mileage concerns, there will be some degree of fuel mileage loss, but the loss could be more theoretical. Once you go to a taller/heavier tire, then the mpg loss will be more measurable/noticeable. |

That size I linked (225/70/17) only has BFGoodrich T/A KO's in Load range D ONLY. Otherwise if they had P rated, I would get those. |

More than anything, the weight is what kills your mileage with the "D" and "E" tires. That's the reason why passenger vehicles (like a Jeep) use "P" tires to begin with. If that's the tire you want, it'll be OK though. You won't hate 'em. |

Sell them and move on I haven't worn a set of tires out on my KJ yet and have had 6 sets including the originals! I run them for a while, get tired of them and sell'em and buy bigger! |

I have a wife and step son, doing Jeep mods, buying land and building a place in Tanzania and keeping things going here as well! Just have to wheel and deal for everything in life....! |
