I have BFG TAKO's and LOVE them. They have never let me down in snow, ice, mud, rocks. But then again it s all personal preference and experience. I wouldnt consider myself anywhere near a hardcore offroader, but the off pavement driving I have done over the past 2.5 years I will say the BFGs did well and didnt show any signs of giving up. Honestly like dirty KK said go to tire rack and read opinions there and here on tires. Thats the only way to decide on a tire other then buying and using it. I went off friends experiences and some reviews and took a chance and Im glad I did.

Firestone Destination A/T here. on my 2nd set on different jeeps, was/is great on both!!

but if you want good ice traction, get a real snow tire, you cannot beat them!! I run them on all the cars. Winterforce is a good bang for the buck, Blizzaks are GREAT, and we put some Michelin X-Ices on the girls Focus last winter, very impressive as well.

Look for tires with the snow rating
for example the Duratracs have it
