I have an old set of 29" Thornbird tires just collecting dust in the barn. I also have an old set of '95 15"x7" mustang wheels. I haven't measured the back spacing but they are pretty deep. Will these tires fit on a stock CRD? I know some caliper grinding is in order on the front. |

Check the DOT #'s on those tires, the last 4,and if there older then 10 years you shouldn't run them on heavy vehicle like a CRD,not to mention thornbirds just suck anyways. If the 15x7's are alloy they will not fit unless you get the backspacing to 3.5" or less. Never, never, never grind down a caliper, just plain unsafe. |

Ya they are alloy and somewhere in the 4s. The tires are like 5-6 years old and yes they sure do wander on the black top, but they do pretty good in the snow and mud. I have a set of stock Cherokee wheels that are steel. |

Stock steelies will need spacers also.Aftermarket steel 15" rims with 4" or less back spacing is what you want/need.OE 15" wheels have to much BS and will hit the caliper and/or the outer tie rod ends. |

Sell the tires if you can and get something that works good on the KJ wouldn't be worth the effort to mount up the Thornt*rds |

Ya I think you guys are right. Sell them and add to my lift fund. There sure isn't much out there for traction tires in the 245/70/r16 size |

People do it on the rear calipers on 4th Generation F Bodys (Camaro / Firebirds) to fit 15" Slicks. Grind down the cast fingers that are on top of the caliper. |
