I found TPMS sensors on car-part.com for like $35 each or something. If I buy these sensors, can I just pop them into my wheels and my KJ will automatically train itself to them?? |

That is a maybe. Make sure you get the correct sensors for the year of your KJ as the sensors may be different depending on the year. Make sure you get the correct mfg sensor. Also be sure whoever installs them puts them in correctly because if they don't you will not be able to get them to read. The monitor on the overhead has a training mode in it for the sensors. You may have to obtain the magnet required for retraining. All the info on how to do it is in the operator manual or on line. Check the pricing on Amazon as they were the best when I bought mine and also free shipping. Good luck |

I thought the training magnet was for the up to '04s only? Aren't the '05+ models equipped with radio repeaters and different computers throughout the body? I was hoping that the training magnets were not necessary for my Jeep. |

What you say is totally possible as I believe the 04 and 05 use different sensors (Shrader vs Bosch). That is why you want to make sure you get the correct ones, which I am sure you will. Anyway, back to the "maybe" on your original question, install them and see. If they retrain themselves you will be good to go and if not you will have to retrain them according to the system your Lib has. If you have a shop do the install they should be able to take care of the retraining if necessary. I wouldn't have put the sensors back when I changed wheels except that the Liberty is my wifes grocery getter (my off roader) and she was whining about the tire alert everytime she would start the car. Have a great day |

Sorry, maybe an overload on information but see what I mean by "maybe": ( I believe you have VDO sensors not Bosch as noted in my original response). "TPMS sensors from Siemens VDO (now VDO Automotive AG) are supplied in a number of modes depending on the source of supplier. They can be supplied in TEST MODE and once installed on a vehicle will drive into the correct mode. Alternatively they can be supplied in SHIP MODE in which case they require activation by a 125 KHz modulated signal to put them into the correct mode." Information comes from Bartec TPMS which is another good read. |
