you'll need spacers and some trimming, or aftermarket rims and some trimming for the 265/70's 245/75's you could have no trimming on the stock rims, or you may need to pound the pinchwelds. I ran 245/75's and am now running 265/70's and you can no way run the 265/70's without spacers |

as much as i love my 265-70's, i would go with 245-75's. the 265s are a pain, now that my lift is settling im getting a bit of rubbing and once a week i have to look around to see what i can cut out. once these are shot im more then likely going to try out 235-85's for some height gain

You should consider 255/70-16. In my opinion, that size looked a LOT better than the 245/75s I have now. The slight extra width was very noticeable and filled out the wheel wells better, and you don't lose hardly any height at all. Maybe 1/4" at the most. I'd look into that if I were you as another option. |

Wondering if I should consider this size when (if) I get my Frankenlift. I would like a wider tire and do not want too much diameter since I will not be regearing. Thanks!

I ran 255-70s way back when and overall a good size, no power/mileage loss to speak of |

Yes I ran two sets of 255/70-16s, both were Grabber AT2s. (Grabber AT2 is an AWESOME tire by the way). In my opinion, it's the best size for a lifted KJ. It's wide enough to look decent (245s look like pizza cutters), but it's not so wide that it rubs the ball joints. The 265s rubbed my ball joints. The 245s looked like pizza cutters and only give you 1/8" of extra ground clearance. Ask yourself... is 1/8" of ground clearance worth it?? Or would you rather have a better looking tire? If you want the better looking tire, that still works great offroad, go with 255/70-16. I had 2" of lift and they only rubbed if I steered full lock. Otherwise, the very minimal rubbing in the rear wheel liner wasn't a problem. |

LibertyCRD wrote: 245s look like pizza cutters That's what I've always thought. vshockey10- I doubt there is any need to regear with either the 255/70-16 or 245/75-16. To get an estimate of the power loss you need to consider the ratio of the tire diameters. According to one tire calculator (it will depend on brand) - Stock 225/75-16: 29.28" diameter. 245/75: 30.46". 255/70: 30.05". So changing from stock to 245/75 effectively decreases you gear ratio by 3.9% whereas going to 255/70 decreases it by only 2.6%.. You should get more power with a 255/70 than a 245/75. The general consensus I've seen on the forum is that you should will need to regear for 265/75 or bigger, but others can correct me. |
