they are 16x9 wheels which I know are a little wide but I talked to a guy in Indiana that said they work just fine on his KJ

So my question is what tire would you throw on ? I like all terrains but I have a commute now so Im not sure if I should go to an all season. so if there is a all terrain that still gets good mpg I think that's for me!

and I know I should stay stock for best mpg

let me know what you think

Your going to need almsot 4" of lift to clear those wheels. That wheel width is best with a 12.5"-13.5" wide tires. If unlifted return the wheels and get some 7" wide rims with 5.5"-4" of back spacing with OE sized tires.

If you must run those 9" wide rims the item in the below pic will be needed................

HAH well I guess it is a good thing I have that exact one. Just bought new blades to because I had a trailer build. Ill be ready. I do need advisement on a lift for my CRD. and I spoke with a guy said he ran 255/70/16 tires on moto metals with no rub issues after some hacking and a lift

Thinking you might be needing a tire in the 290-310 width wise. JEG'S has a wheel and tire visual deal, maybe check it out. Good luck, take pictures. 8)

265's work best on a 7" wide rim.

Always good to see someone try to push the envelope. Maybe, if they have enough backspacing, they will work. Lord knows we have all tried a couple things on our KJs against other's opinions. Some worked out for us. Many failed. Live and learn. How else would I be riding as high as I am? Gotta start somewhere. It just cost me a bunch of $$ in the middle of trial and error to get to the final endpoint. But hey. It is a hobby and fun to experiment.

I agree completely LTT
I've tried some rather what some thought were foolish things over the past 40 years of building 4WDs but then also some things just won't work well without a lot of tearing other things up :ROTFL:

Its nice to do things the standard way sometimes to have a nice run of the mill toy. But sometimes if your one of a kind toy works out you are that much prouder of it. and the satisfaction you get from knowing you did all the work is awesome. I have built some stupid jet skis over the years but the ones that work out are easily the most fun. So yes I am going to take a risk and see what happens here. With some help I hope to not break the bank from the beginning. and if I like what turns out I will go and purchase the correct more expensive parts that go along with it

seriously thanks for your opinions. all info is good info as long as we all stay mature!!
