The veterans here have probably seen this type of question a 1000 times. I'll ask it again. I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty. It is a fairly base model with no mods. I'm due for a new set of tires. I forgot what kind I have now, but I know they're a basic road-type goodyear tire. For my next set, I want to get a light truck type tire with a bit more off-road capability. I don't really drive off-road, but my driveway is a hilly curvy 2-track of about 300 yards that demands a fairly serious tire in Michigan winters. I also want something that is capable for occasional muddy/gravel/pot-hole filled areas, and roads to camping spots, and those nasty winter parking lots that are covered with what seems like sloppy cookie dough. The majority of my driving is highway and city mixed driving, but I will suffer some road noise for the sake of all around capability. I have a coupon for Goodyear MTR tires with Kevlar reinforced sidewalls. They are certainly tougher than what I'm currently rolling on. The sidewall reinforcement seems like a good idea, considering I will be hauling a 10' cargo trailer for several trips this year in the winter, during a move to a new house. Is this a decent tire, given the coupon ($20 off at time of purchase, plus an additional rebate of unspecified amount, max off $160)? Or should I consider something else? I'll wait a few days, then check back for replies. Thanks in advance for your informed opinions!! Russ |

This is what i got for about $135 a piece about a year and a couple months ago. I live in michigan just south of port huron. I have been to Silver lake with them and made it up Test Hill on my first try (Unlifted) They only hum slightly at 30-40 mph but, it really isnt even that loud.... My girlfriend cant even hear it They are a Load E tire. So its a little much on the tough side, but a cheaper tire that can handle more. So far the tire has been awesome in the harsh winter, dune sand, and heavy rain. So i definitely recommend this tire. OH and by the way, I love the look of them. ![]() SOME LINKS... http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?d ... htweiter=1 http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d148/ ... 0/2854.jpg MINE... ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have 265/75/R16 Goodyear MTR's on right now, and I know alot of people run them and like them, but IMHO they suck. I find they have miserable traction on almost every surface, a little noisy, and they wear out fairly quick. I'll be going back to BFG All Terrain TA/KO shortly, I have run them on multiple vehicles for the last 15-20 years, great traction in all elements dry, rain, snow (mud could be a bit better), very good for both road and offroad performance, never been dissapointed with them. |

General grabbers. Work great on everything and theyre ridiculously cheap. They aren't amazing in mud, but theyre pretty good. |

Russ The smallest size M/T R Kevlar tires are 245-75-16 if you are running 16 inch wheels and 245-70-17 if you roll 17 rims. Either way, they are 30.7 inches tall and will not fit on an un lifted Liberty. Even with 4 inches of lift we still get some minimal rubbing! Excellent tires! We are on our second set. I agree that they don't last as long as other tires, but we can live with what! |

Thanks for the replies! I just took a closer look. I bought this jeep used some years back and replaced the stock tires it had with the same model of tire. They are Goodyear Wrangler ST, P225/75 R16. Seems like pretty basic passenger car tires. I'm starting to learn that there is actually a range of tire sizes that will fit any particular set of rims. If I'm switching to a light truck tire, what numbers should I be looking for when I scan the rack at the tire store? What would be the max width and/or aspect ratio that I should consider? Someone earlier mentioned tire rub with too big of tires. I don't want to make that mistake. I don't do any serious trail riding (yet |
