just got procomp rockcrawlers(soft8 style) with 4.25 backspacing. They stick out a bit further then my stock rims with 1.25 inch spacers did and im concerned about the rubbing in the rear under full flex. What is the limit with trimming the fender there? I mean the underside to allow the wheel to pass by, without rubbing and ripping off the fenders. I can grab pictures if need be.

:ALONE: If i had any rocks or anything that could get it completely flex i would have checked it already, but i live on an island of nothing but sand :banghead: . Might head over to a friends house by the sound to see if he has some bigger rocks to check on. I just need to know how much i can safely cut into the rear fender without it falling off(again the underside in the wheel well).

Fit some extra bumpstops. No trimming needed.

I run a 3" bumpstop in the rear. I also trimmed the plastic overhang (inside) so it is even with the metal and pounded the pinchweld that is on the front 1/3 of the rear fenderwell.

No rubbing, but really close and I have fully stuffed it.

yeah i have whatever came with the frankenlift, and i really dont feel like tearing apart the rear end just to put in inch longer bump stops. Might have to end up doing that, just dreading it.

If your new rims are 7" wide like OEM rims then they stick out the same amount as OEM rims with 1.25" spacers given the new rims have 4.25" of back spacing. Now if there 8" wide rims good luck.

yeah they are 8 inches wide. They only stick out maybe ~half an inch more then they did before, and they rubbed lightly before without trimming, so i figure with trimming or adding longer bumpstops ill be fine. the staggered look is just too sexy to get rid of.

edit: also what length are the CRD frankenlift bump stops? I think its gunna be easiest to just get extended bump stops. and while im in there im gunna put in another iso to lift it a bit more.

More than likely you do since you're running that wide/backspacing of a rim
3 hockey pucks stacked do the job, or has for me for a bunch of miles/times. Does limit the travel thats why I wish these Moabs were not 8 inches wide

Or you can get a set from Tomken. They typically have them in stock. Bolt right it.

alright ill have to grab 6 hockey pucks one time and put them in sometime before i really twist it up. I figured id limit the flex with these, but an inch of travel wont kill me :JEEPIN: . Thanks guys.

btw since i didnt install my lift, are the bumpstops just held in by a bolt? so i'd drill through the 3 hockey bucks and have a bolt/washer going through the bottom to the top? I havent looked at it yet but i guess a little walkthrough would be nice.

I will confirm the part number tonight but believe it is TMT-2014-X which is for a TJ I believe. Looks just like the Daystar 1.5" that comes with the Frankenlift except it is 3".

Just to confirm they are TMT-2014-X, 3" bump stops by Tomken.

Max install time is 30 minutes. Install hint one, put a little grease on the top face of the nut to hold the lockwasher in place. A set of needle nose vice grips also helps a lot, but regular ones will do. You don't have to remove the wheels, just jack up the side to the point where the tire starts to lift, put in a jack stand and have at it. 9/16" open end wrench.

Hockey pucks also work, takes 3 I believe with a bolt that is about an inch longer that the thickness of 3 pucks. Bolt is 3/8 x 16 thread by whatever length. Drill holes throught the center, thread them on and have at it.

Good luck, nice after dinner project.

Yup, you don't have to take anything apart. The new bumpstop fits between the coils of the rear springs. Very simple to change out.

Have a good one.
