I have been trying to find out through other threads if a C tire would be ok to put on my kk. from what i have read it seems like some kjs have C tires but i havent found a kk that runs C tires. so i guess what do you guys think is C ok or should i get E tires? if someone could explain the difference and thatd be helpful too. i know its a load range difference and i think a ply difference? but how should this affect my decision on what tire to buy? sorry i dont know much about tires but i figured someone here could help me out

thanks for the help everybody

The only real reason to run E's is so that when you're offroad - you can air them down to 15-18 psi and they'll stay on the rims... (awesome on MTR's)

that and some of the tires style/sizes folks want only come in E's

there is no load range reason to run anything more than SL/P tires on a Liberty
and generally the lighter weight will get you better mileage

youll get alot of opinions on load range. the load e should only be used on larger, heavier vehicles or if you do alot of heavy towing, maybe. load c are lighter then e, in turn wont rob as much hp and mgp and softer so will conform to whatever terrain easier while aired down.

We run load range E Goodyear M/T R Kevlar's in a 245-75-16 size.
The Heep handles excellent. Off road we air down to as low as 10
psi without incident. Excellent tough truck tires.

thanks for the opinions guys. i dont do much towing and its mostly a daily driver-weekend warrior so i think im gonna be going with the Cs. seems to me like that is the better choice for my application.

C's should do fine, i had a set of D's that tread wallowed really bad but they were low ply, cheap, and my jeep is heavier than the avg lead sled i've been satisfied with the 2 sets of D's and E's I've ran though

if i didn't have so much metal hangin off of it plus rear cargo I could probably get away with P's or C's

255-70 C's 17-18 avg
245-75 E's 16-17 avg

my 1/8th mile times were better with the C's

overall ride quality.. other than noise, better with the E's :P

I run these as well. I like the side wall protection with all the cactus, stumps, and rocks I encounter on my property or when I visit Big Bend area.

215/85r16 load range e, 18.5 mpg.

I drive on the beach alot and a shell popped one of my old tires so I just went with the E. No problems with that now.

Like getting flats and just LOVE being stranded way out in the woods?
Load range C is for you my friend!

You say "But I don't go off-road friend".
So.... You:
Need a tire that 'wifey doesn't hassle you about because she wants "quiet" when she makes all those trips to the mall because she really needs a car but wants the SUV image and won't jolt and spill her latte?
Load range C is for you!

The decision is yours though. A truck tire carcass that is tougher and yes, noisier and stiffer, or
a passenger car tire. Choose according to your needs and whatever the boss says you can choose.

Solidarity Always!

E's aren't magic - I've cut the sidewalls on them too....

I’m running “P” rated tires on both Jeeps and haven‘t had any problems with sidewall punctures or flats. The tires are super light. The downside is that you can’t find a hardcore “P” rated M/T tire. I’ll be forced to go with a “C, D, E” rated M/T tire the next time I put 32” inch tires on the XJ.
