How many people use wheel spacers on their KJs? Pictures would be helpful too!

with the stock rims i used 1.25 wheel spacers. this is what it looked like

Image

can't find any pictures of the actual wheel spacers. but they were the kind that you bolt to the hub, and then the wheel bolts to the spacers thats bolted to the hub. best option for wheel spacers imo.

bout the best i can do for a stock profile picture is this, got plenty of spaced pics but the TR bumpers over exaggerates how far out they really are

Image

Image

can't find a rear pic prior to spacers/lift

Image

that being said, it's more cost effective, and to many, safer to get rims in the backspacing of your choice rather than use spacers

I have some 1.25 Spidertrax, installed them to keep the tires off the sway bar AFTER I lifted (didn't rub before) I'm running 235 tires, so they look okay still.

when i lifted spacers went on so I have no idea what the 255-70s i was running at the time would have been like lifted with the lift narrowing the front end marginally

Is there any reason for me to get wheel spacers after I install my Frankenlift 2 and 245 75 16s?

Wheel spacers will keep your wheels from rubbing if using stock rims, but are not required, you can just change your driving habits, (ie. NOT turn at full lock)

I don't have any issues, but I am using spidertrax, not cheap rip offs

We've been running 1.25" wide Spidertrax with 245-75-16 inch M/T R Kevlars for the last two and a half years.
A little rubbing at full lock in reverse.

I love my truck with Spider Trax spacers. Much nicer and frankly more stable.

I've been told to absolutely stay away from them because their terrible for the life of your suspension. Is this true? Or does it depend on the brand/make?

They shouldn't be any harder on your suspension than a wheel that gives you the same back space. I use Spidertrax spacers with the stock Limited wheels for street driving and an 8" wide 4" backspace wheel for off road. Just make sure you install them correctly (clean hubs, use the locktite and torque them)

what about wheel spacers on moabs. the moabs seem to have really good backspacing but i wouldn't mind going a little wider. so if anyone had done this i would love to see pictures.

Moabs are 5" back space and 8" wide. You will move them out 1.25" with wheel spacers which gives a net effect of 3.75" back space and it will rub, rub, rub.

okay so the moabs basically give you the backspacing you would get from stock wheels and wheel spacers?

No
Moabs give you the stock backspacing
but the 8 inch width sits them out to the edge of the fender
which causes problems when flexing
I love the look of the Moabs but sure wish they were only 7 inches wide
