Anyone see these yet? Sorry if it has been posted already...Airless tires. pretty out there.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.
Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats...
These are actual pictures taken at the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Yep seen them before but i greatly doubt that they will make it out on the market. And if they do i greatly doubt it will be for civilian use.

I would not want to put one of those up against a modest NYC pothole at 40 mph

Military use...Yes
Civilian use...No

I prefer my Trxus MTs over these honeycomb tires.

I first saw these (demo models) at an off-road show about 5 years ago on Michelin's stand. The rep was very enthusiastic about the benefits of them - specifically no more worries about punctures, therefore no need to carry a spare; no more worries about sidewall damage - because no sidewalls; potentially lighter than a standard tyre for any given size/application, so a reduction in the unsprung weight giving benefits to the suspension and that the construction of the tyre itself contributed to the suspension . They did need a different wheel design obviously - as far as I can recall, the wheel was in two halves which basically bolted together to contain the tyre.

Interestingly, what they had on the stand were fitted to a military Land Rover and from what he was saying, the company was showing them off to the Army and pushing hard for acceptance by the MoD. He was distinctly evasive about the price! I note from the photo above, that the tyre is fitted to a military Humvee, so I assume that they are pitching to the military market first. However, I'm not aware of any military contracts for these tyres, and I certainly haven't seen them at any off-road show since!

If they ride anything like their skidsteer counterparts I'll pass.

Nice to have for getting into a chunk of locust trees and dragging them around, but not so good on the back.
