I'm looking at getting a set of Goodyear Duratracs when my AT Revos finally need replacing die in a few months.
I'm using 245/70R16 with no lift now and couldn't be happier... except it'd be nice to get some more clearance.
What I'm comparing:
- 215/85R16 E
- 245/75R16 E
I know the overall diameter difference is only a few millimeters and from what I have read here's the differences:
- the former will:
- fit with no rubbing unlifted (assuming highway driving and no radical obstacles)
- give me just slightly better fuel economy due to less contact area
- feel just a little squirmier in turns due to the decreased cross-section and tread width
- be a little lighter
- the latter will:
- need a small lift and possibly a little trimming to fit without rubbing at full lock
- feel more like what I have now when on-road
- be a little heavier and slightly decreased economy
- be a little better in deep mud/snow
Any other factors to consider when comparing these sizes? I love to hear from anyone who's run both (if there is anyone out there in that camp).
Dan
