Hi, quick question are 235/75R16 equivalent to 7.50R16? The 7.50r16 some how look to be thinner and a bit less taller than 235/85R16 and here in the UK are a lot more available as they are/were the main size for Land Rover Defenders, also seem to be slighly cheaper... Any pros & cons to using them on stock 16x7 alloy rims? Fil. |

Over here 7.50-16s are most of the time heavier 8-10 bias ply tread, very stiff hard to find also anymore 235-85-16 would be about the same overall size |

Tom, thank you for your answer. We still find 7.50R16 in the UK as it's still being used on Land Rover Defenders over here. I would only get them as a second set of Mud running tyres for the summer, but yes I get the point that they are heavier and stiffer, hopefully they will last longer to I am looking for a set of Wheels to fit them to 16x7 but what back space or ET should I get? I have stock 16x7 with 4.5 backspace alloys and a set of spacers 1.25 inc but they push the wheels to far out I think equivalent of 3.25 inc backspace, I suppose I should be looking for 3.75 to 4 inc max of backspace ( the equivalent in ET would be? can't work that one out). 4 inches of backspacing Yes when I go to Tanzania I see 750-16s all the time almost like you have to run that size over there

Tom, thank you for the answer, i will start looking for some rims with 4 inc backspace, they are hard to find here. Do you know what the equivalent ET would be? 0 or +10 (ET realy confuses me, I have looked it up but still no clearer). Well a LOT of LR and Toyota's in Tanzania and they all like to run on 7.50R16, plus tyres are a bit stornger and longer lasting, but horrible ride not that that would make the difference in the back bush... I am only considering them as second set of offraod tyres not as main DD otherwise I would get 235/85R16. Fil. |
