On the last set of tires I purchased, I had some pretty serious rear outside edge wear that led to short tire life (25K miles). I just put some new tires on the jeep, took it to Les Schwab for an alignment and they said that it was perfectly aligned - no adjustment necessary. In looking at the provided report I noticed that not all of the measurements had a specified range, in particular the rear toe, which I know is not adjustable. On my Jeep, the Toe for the left rear was .31 degrees, and the toe for the right was .81 degrees. There is no specified range, but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what their jeep was. This seems excessive, since the specified range for the front is .04 to .16 degrees.

If it is toe'd in an excessive amount, that would explain why the rear tires wear the outside edges so fast. But, what would I do to fix that?

So, I'm wondering if it's bent axle tube. Anyone else ever have this issue?

I am no alignment guru by any means. Do you rotate your tires? Any tire left in one postion that long will for sure show signs of abnormal/excessive wear. How are your rear control arms? How is your tri-link? If all parts check out good/great, I might start to check out the unibody from a competent frame shop. Over the years and working on many KJ's from 03-07 there are very small differences in the subframe and construction of it. Example is how some have to have diferent size shims to level them out when doing a lift because of subframe irregularities. Was it built on a Monday or Friday, who knows. All I do know for sure is the KJ subframe is not consistant and tweeks need to be made to some of them to make them right. Good luck.

I think my jeep is ok, it wore tires fine until I replaced the tear axle (pinion grenaded and took the housing with it). I got it from a reputable auto dismantler, and now both rear tires are towed in. Perhaps it took a hit? I put New bushings in when I replaced the axle.

Can it be straightened on while still on the vehicle?
Can it be straightened at all?

Well ya answered your own question in reguards to tire wear, if they wore fine until ya replaced the axle.
The axle mounting flange(s) may be bent and not the housing. If the axle(s) are bent, buy another or set that are straight, if the housing is bent, buy another housing that is straight. Sounds like you need to inspect it more indepth or take it to someone that can.

They both have. + in front. Drivers side is .41 degrees and passengers side is .83 degrees.

Better to try to find a place to have it straightened, or replace axle housing?

I don't think Axles are bent, as there is no tire wobble

Yeah if both sides are positive toe then you got a bent tube which places alot of stress on the axle and bearings.0.83 degrees is alot and causing damage to more then just your tires,0.41 degrees is alot but not terrible.I'll tell you finding a shop to straighten the tubes will be hard to find and the cost may not be cheap.I know of one here in Colorado that does great work and the price is not bad but I do not know your location.


If one side was negitive and the other positive then you would have a mis-aligned rear diff caused by worn bushings or bent control arms.


Also just wondering what the rear "thrust angle" is? If that is on the report they printed you.
