After reading and re-reading these I am lost

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1788

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Jeep_Liber ... s_%26_Rims

(Disclaimer: I am a complete novice when it comes to the off-roading world)

So here I go, I have an 07 liberty and plan on modding it a little for the occasional weekend trip, I know that I want to lift it, but haven’t decided on which kit, and I know it won’t be over 4 inches. I have seen a lot of people having 265/75/16‘s listed as there tires, is this an appropriate size for a weekend Lib, or should I go with something closer to stock size? Something like 245/75R16? Also I'm not getting tires till after/ during the lift.

Here are some that I have found

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-sel ... re-details

and

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... mpare1=yes

265-75-16s / 235-85-16s etc you'll need to regear
theres a reason most everyone goes with 245-75-16
over all good size for a 2.5-3 inch lift can use stock wheels etc

As far as BFG, good tire in the 70s-80s
Much better tires out there now overall
I ran Kumho KL78s for a short time, not a bad tire, did good overall
but not nearly as good as the Duratracs are
just for S&Gs
Ive ran/ tested
stockers ( very short time)
Firestone Destinations
Kumho KL78s
Goodyear MTRs
BFG ATs ( short time)
Treadwrights ( very short time)
Goodyear Duratracs

Also I know what 26 / 800 / 145 etc are like and you should look for a tire that is snow rated ( just in case we ever have snow again instead of rain)

Those roads are nothing

Last year in Mo we had 32 inches of snowfall in two days, and I had to go to work my Focus (with 17's low pros) made it through the snow no problem. Granted the roads weren't that bad only a foot of snow on them.

But that is a very good point I was only looking for On road Off road tires.

Sounds like the winter I tried to run M-50s on the rear of my 69 Cougar.
Driving from Woodsfield to Barnesville every day :ROTFL:
of course that was 40 years ago, young and dumb :banghead:

40 years ago you could drive a car into a tree and back up then drive off.

I have the BFG's on my 06 CRD and I love them :)
Quiet, decent offroad traction, much better mileage than when I was driving on Goodyear MTR's.

Big difference in a extreme ofroad tire(MT/R) and a weak sidewall AT like the BFG.
