I tried using the forum's Search function but couldn't find an answer.

I presently have Procomp 245/75/R16 AT's under my 04 Liberty Sport, a gasser with a 2.4" spacer lift. The tires have performed well on & off road but are due for replacement.

I'm looking at BF Goodrich 285/75/R16's. My calculations say my Procomp's should be about 30.5" tall and the BF Goodrich's should be 32.8" tall. I know in reality tires are seldom as tall as the calculations say they are.

Does anybody else run 285/75/R16's under a 2.5" lift?

6 inch lift will be needed
no way under a 2.5 inch, heck I wouldn't even try it and I run over 4 inches
PLUS then you're into regearing to gain back any power and mileage at all

Really? I thought once I pounded the pinch welds down that you could run up to 32" tall tire under a 2.5" lift.

I hadn't considered regearing the axles. Regearing the rear axle would be pretty straightforward but accessing the front carrier would be a big chore.
Maybe I better stay with my 245/75/R16 AT's because I already have the PCM programmed for this tire size.

285/75R16's are a 33" tire(32.8"),265/75R16's are a 32" tire(31.9"),and 245/75R16's are a 31" tire(30.5").

And no way your going to run a 32" tire under a 2.5" lift unless you never turn, ever, even with major cutting.245/75's barely work under a 2.5" lift without mods to the body.

I run 265-75-16 BFG mud terrain KM2 on Moabs, 2.5 lift, pounded the pinch weld, and trimmed. It still rubs, however it's functional.

I have only driven it on road, I'm sure when I get into full flex situations ill probably tear out the fender flares.

Can you make 285 fit? Not sure, I think that 265 is max.
Functionality? Questionable.

I tore off the rear flares with 265/75's with 3.75" of lift, took a lot of special trimming to make the 265/75's work and keep the flares on.

Yep over 4 inches of lift on mine
265-75-16s on Moabs and have to run 3 inches of bumpstops due to the dang 8 inch wide Moabs and still can loosen the rear flares when flexed. So if you only want run down a straight/flat highway you may " get by " but................................
