I have an 04 Renegade with a 3" lift. Have thus far been running BFGs 235/70R/16 (bought them before the lift, and yes they look tiny now).

These tires have performed great for me and are now at the 20,000 mile mark. HOWEVER:
- experiencing uneven tire wear (excessive cupping) on the front tires (to the point that 2 dealers said it's next to impossible to align correctly), .... but alignment really not that bad, hardly noticeable drift.
- fair bit of road noise

Aside from these 2 factors I'm quite happy with the tires; great traction in dry, wet, snowy, muddy, and gravel conditions. A couple of sources told me that generally Liberties cause a little more than average cupping up front, don't if that's true but thought I would mention it.

Of course now with the lift I'm looking to go bigger. I'm pretty sure I can move up to a 265/75R/16 (maybe some minor fender trimming required) ... going from 29.1" diameter to 31.8".

MY QUESTION is this. After reading peoples opinions on this forum and Tirerack's surveys I am torn between the TA-KOs and the REVOs. Anyone out there have experience with both... or even what are peoples general opinions on this comparison?

I would appreciate any input.
(Keep in mind. Fair bit of offroading, Minnesota winters, highway commutes)

Winters and highway driving - definitely the Revo. They have better traction in the wet/slick stuff and definitely better handling and less noise.

Offroad - probably the KO. They do have a very stout sidewall, but I've never had a problem with my Revos offroad either. They have gotten me through lots of sharp rocks (and some mud) and the sidewalls are still in perfect condition.

Looks factor - KO wins. They are just more aggressive looking.

Helpful, huh?

I love the BFG AT's. Last winter everyone in town was running studs or chains, I didn't even have to use 4wd with the BFG's. The AT-KO tires are great in the snow and even better on ice. They are a little heavy and slightly more noise, can't forget higher priced too, but I think it is by far the best all-terrain.

That's interesting Skyjump. The BFGs are rated as winter tires but you think Revos are better? I'm looking to upsize my Revos this month and was considering the KO because they get the Severe Winter rating and the Revos don't.

I can't comment on the Revo's since I have no experience with them whatsoever, but I sure like the "rim protector" lip that surrounds the rims on the BFG's and keeps the rims from being damaged by rocks/curbs/etc.

I had the BFG a/t on my Ford i traded in for my libierty and loved them, good on everything from moderate mud, rainy weather to ice and snow.

They are what i will be putting on my Liberty in the near future.

Hi, I'm considering the Revos myself but share the Lib with my Wife. How are the Revos for around town and highway driving. If i'm gonna talk my wife into new tires they have to be suitible for her too. We have a baby due Nov 21st and I want a good handling tire for rain and snow. we have the stockers on right now which I think are awful with just a mist falling.. Thanks!! :D

i think the main point here is highway/street driving. In my case i think i am going to go with the Revo's because i live in the city and most my driving will be in the city and i need a good winter tire but i also want one that will perform well on highway and also the revos are proven to be good on light to medium off road. But i think off road performance of any tire depends a lot on the driver as said many other times around here.

In the end, i think you have to evaluate the amount of offroading vs. street/highway use then make your choice.

Androvsky.. Those are the tires I am planning to get too. They look very similar to the BFG KOs, and will likely perform just like the KOs, but they are literally half the price, and they have a 50,000 mile treadlife warranty. Can't beat that!

May I ask how much one of those tires cost up there? Here I think they are running about $90 per tire.

What can i said ? I'm not an expert, but for me, it perform very good.
Low noise on road. Holding good. I can't wait the snow in 2-3 week to check on snow.
But for now, I get satisfaction !

i just put on the BFG AT's a couple months ago and they have helped me out several times off road and on, i suport the BFG but the sidewalls on the BFG's for my particular size are rated for comercial trucks which is great because they're durable and you can roll it up down or the side of a sharp rock and there's no way to rip it, but on the road they ride stiff....i can live with...and the road noise is minimal to me...i drive 6 hours one way all the way across colorado when i come home on breaks from college and it doesnt bother me one bit, if you're going for offroad ability and look go for the BFG, but if you're going for good higway traction and offroad then REVO...its all a matter of personal choice i think and how much you want to spend....

Quick question androvsky......what are the sidewall ratings on your tires just out of curiosity

General Grabber AT2 :
Sidewall OWL ?
Speed: S 112mph
Load 111

BF AT Ko
Sidewall RWL ?
Speed : Q 100mph
Load 115

You can compare Speed and Load but for the sidewall i can't tell you.

Just find that RWL : Raised White Letter and OWL: Outline White Letter.
