Just got my new 265/75R16 Pro Comp MT2s Load Range E (10-ply) balanced via Dyna Beads. Initial review is that these are monstrously heavy (66lbs each) and are very aggressive. Tire noise is definitely present starting at 25mph and quieting a bit after 45 to a.slightly higher pitch. Still working on a good psi to run it at though.

Review Update: After driving through a "Virginia Snow Storm" (equal to everyday driving in Michigan where I'm from), these tires performed FLAWLESSLY. I was able to drive in 2WD going 55mph and have zero slippage. Only time I slid was as I was turning and gassing to much (i.e. on purpose haha).

Pretty sure we call that "drifting" here lol. That's how every turn should be taken when there's snow on the ground :jester:

2500mi UPDATE

So I measured the tread depth of these tires. Roof mounted new tire (hasn't touch ground until today) had 20/32s! That's 2/32s more than advertised! The tires that were already on the road are still at 20/32s as well. I also put a tire on the scale; they're just under 79lbs mounted on my rims with 6oz of Dyna Beads. These tires are very capable and able to get the KK into places I've never been able to climb before. Now that the transmission has learned these tires and the 4.56s gears I'm running very, VERY strong! These tires have quite the hum (load range E MT, kinda saw it coming). at 45mph they peak in volume and turn to a higher pitch and quiet down the faster you go, still quite a bit of hum going "70mph" (according to the speedo). So far these tires are definitely worth the giant price tag and I hope to have them outlast the 40,000mi warranty!

Jealous of the 4.56s for sure !
Hit or miss on the pro Comps, some love em, some hate em
But good luck . Hopefully they run as long as my Duratarcs have , now at 85,000 miles

a few times I gassed it to much. once did a doughnut on the road. you can never have to much """safe""" """fun""" on the pavement. still learning the KKs abilities (with out wrapping it around a pole).

here in PA you take what you can with the weather, cause there are no trails any where to tare up!

Hoping for ATLEAST the warranty mileage but would like to see 60,000mi. Still working on a sweet spot for tire pressure...any tips/tricks Tom?

5000mi update:

Still running at 27psi cold. Added another 2oz to the already 5oz of Dyan Beads installed because at 45-55mph they didn't balance perfectly and left thump-thump-thump while driving for a few miles until they did. Extra few ozs definitely worked. Tires are still wearing evenly and still show no major signs of wear. On that note. measured badly last time. I am currently at 16/32s and not sure how I measured 20/32s last time (last time I stuck an object in there and measured where the thumbnail was, this time I measured using a ruler that measures up to the 1/64"). Also had flawless traction at 20psi when doing blues at Rausch Creek this past weekend. Feel very good about the sidewall strength these tires have and their grip as I was able to maintain grip on a rock too.

7500mi update

So I think the heat got to my tires because they were running hot and my inside is down to 12/32" and the outside is at 14/32". Aired them back down to 27psi and we'll see if they wear evenly again.

10,000mi UPDATE

These tires are still wearing faster than the warranty, but I'll be able invoke Pro Comps 40,000mi warranty and they'll pay for the remaining milage. They're currently all between 10-12/32". They're all sitting at a comfy 27 psi. Even if these tires do not last the warranty, they're still very much worth the price. These are such a capable tire when wheeling that it makes some obstacles seem easy because they hook up so easily.

So after cleaning and some inspecting of the KK after the Rausch Creek trip, these tires took a BEATING. Here's a giant chunk missing from the tread.....

Image

This was the worst of the damage to the tires but there are more spots that make me flinch as well. Amazing tire to maintain traction with though:

15,000mi Update:

Sooo tires are showing age and abuse. Super impressed with their off road grip and traction but on road is meh and rain has me hydroplaning a little too easily. So, I may or may not be looking to get new tires for winter. We'll see how bad they perform in a Norfolk "winter" haha.
