Finally, I found some nice wheels for the KJ!
American Expedition Vehicles makes a 16x8 with 4.6" backspace to fit perfectly on the KJ.
Now all I have to do is wait...

Here are the "Before" pictures:

And the wheels soon going on with "blacks out":

Yeah, I can see your point about the wheels.

I thought they looked kind of "stock", like the Renegade wheel. But thats OK. I'm excited about them because first, I think they look pretty cool! Second, they are exactly the right backspace and are 8" wide, rather than the OE 7", so they will treat my bearings right. Third, they are painted. In Wisconsin it seems SOME PEOPLE think we should be able to drive at full-summer speeds all year round so they dump millions of tons of salt on the road instead of plowing and sanding. The salt destroys unpainted aluminum wheels, turning them dark gray in a year or so. They are too hard to maintain up here. Nothing like spending all that money on a car and have it crapped up with corrosion in a matter of a few years! Argh!

By the way, don't mention the new wheels to my wife... Maybe she won't notice... ;)

The BFGs are great. I have had 3 sets over the last 6 years and have been very happy with them. Plenty of dry, wet and snow traction on the road where I do most of my driving. Offroad they are great but they tend to load with mud if it is really greasey clay, but if you jst gun it, they clean out good. No complaints about them at all after a total of about 115,000 miles on the three sets. (I just bought my third set and have 8,200 miles on them now.

Awesome to hear... I got some BFG Mud-Terrain T/As and they are allright but I think i might be better off with the All-Terrains since I'm not in the Mud that much. There on my rig b/c when I bought it they were on it....I have American Eagle 16x8" wheels too except I have 5" backspacing I believe...

Ha Ha, I am going to pick up my ARB Bull bar today and my wife has no idea. Good thing I am going fishing for 10 days and I won't have to hear about it!

Yeah, I hear ya. An ARB or TrailReady bumper painted to match the fenders is my next project, but I better wait a while. Too much too soon makes for noticable changes...

Awesome wheel & tire combo.

Sorry for the hijack, but were did you get the roof rack and the fairing? Looks awesome.

It's a Mopar/Jeep rack from my Jeep dealer.

I didn't use the week mounting clamps they provide. I drilled down through the existing holes on the roof bars and ran a stainless bolt down through with rubber washers and Ny-lock nuts. It just so happens the holes in the roof bars are exactly centered in the basket's mounting plates. It worked out perfect.

Great lookin' pair of shoes...do you know what the backspacing is? They're noticeably wider.

Sweet Action ... I actually sent an email to AEV asking when they were going to showcase a Liberty conversion. I was a bit pissed to see them trick out a Grand Cherokee...as if. Did you happen to mention to them that their wheels were going on a lifted Lib?

Yes, I talked to them quite a few times.

Just in case you guys were wondering, the wheels are backed up pretty well:

Also, just so you know the wheels do have a lifetime structural warranty on them. We built them extra HD so that even the TJ guys couldn't break them...

Thanks, Dave!
