I went with 215/85r16 on my stock rims. I believe this is the tallest tire you can go with that does not rub. The slightly narrower tire allows it to go taller and still turn without rubbing.

Stock 225/75r16
Width 8.85"
Rim Dia 16"
Rim With 6"-7"
Overall Dia 29.28"

215/85r16
Width 8.46"
Rim Dia 16"
Rim With 5.5"-7"
Overall Dia 30.38"

learn Math.......

the outside dimensions are the same

Section width - convert mm's to inch divide by 25.4 = width
section width * ratio (65/70/75) = sidewall height for one side * 2 (top+ bottom)
add wheel diameter = height

you now have width/height - doesn't really matter is it's a 15", 16", 17", 18" wheel

it's the outside that rubs - one caveat - it's the outside of the tread -
and tread width isn't always mentioned and can easily vary 1/2" or more for the same section width.

What type of tires are you using? I'm considering some DuraTracs as they seem to be good on/off-road and still capable in snow. I am toying with the idea of 215/85/16 or 235/75/16 for my 06 CRD.
