Good find! That article confirms the use of Volkswagon diesels in Chrysler vehicles!

It says CRD..is the vw a common rail engine? And I think the article says its a TDI but doesnt say if its the new PD engine or not. Anyone know?

I like to use the google alerts to keep myself updated, right now I am alerted whenever there is a new site that has, jeep gladiator, smart roadster, chrysler diesel, and I think there is one more but cant remember what.

First page of the article, third paragraph:

Quote:
If that weren't complicated enough, the Dodge Caliber 2.0 CRD (as tested) is powered by a Volkswagen engine. So who makes the Caliber? Half the world's automotive industry, it seems.

Also, page 2:

Quote:
But it is in-gear rather than peak performance that exemplifies diesel engines, and the Caliber clearly benefits from VeeDub's TDI technology.

Right I got that part I was just wondering if the vw engine is a common rail design or not, wouldnt make sense to call it a CRD if it wasnt a Common rail system. I have high hopes for this one making it to the states. I dont think VW is going to quit selling diesels in the US forever, I hope they will do what it takes to meet the emmisions requirements, if they havnt already, and therefore making the caliber CRD available to the US market as well.
