Post subject:  GC CRD engine pics

My dealership diesel mechanic called me this evening that they got a GC CRD and wanted me to take a look.
Tomorrow morning, I'll be taking some engine bay pictures with the plastic shroud off and will post them here.

Since it has been over a week with no pics posted, I thought I'd take a few of my 2007 WK CRD with the engine cover removed.

I hope this works!

Gosh it seems like all the service and major repair stuff is right up ontop and easy to reach.

A couple of questions. 1) Where is the CCV? 2) What is the air filter setup like? 3) Is there a fuel lift pump?

It seems the fuel filter being high like on the Liberty plus right above the engine would create a heat and air issue similar to what we are having. Perhaps they are using the Mercedes air bleed system.

The air cleaner is the same as the other WKs. The fuel pump is in the tank. I've had no issues with the fuel supply. The CCV is on the rear of the right-hand valve cover, I think. I believe it is located elsewhere on MB vehicles. I'll have to look in the SM.

boxcab - any mileage numbers yet?

I've only got about 4400 miles on it, but it gets about 22 mpg around town (commuting) and over 25 mpg on the highway, on straight D2 or B5.

Nice pix boxcab. Too bad they put POS rubber hoses on the charged side of our liberty CRD turbos. They made at least one improvement.

Wouldnt it be nice if an oil change only involved flipping a valve (fumoto) and popping the hood to change the filter?

No crawling under to change the filter...no oil dripping on skid plates...

Post subject:  Jeger you know the answer...

:-)r :-)r :-)r

My fellow furry friend (AKA Lemming), you'll own the answer.

For $10K (GC CRD) more, you'll have the answer. :?

For $60K more (+/- for a GL), they'll do the flippin' and liftin' for you.

All said, I'm naming my Libby ET. Emmission controls from another world to live in ours. So ugly it is cute (yute) at the same time. Has the potential of going thousands of miles, heal the sick and get you out of any jam you get yourself into only to slowly die if it does not return to its Fatherland every couple of months (the DCX garage). Too bad it didn't have a VW bug's dash (complete with flower vase), I could watch the flower wilt and then watch it come back to life after an PCM/ECM reflash. Men in moonsuits call the local garage and tell them to swap parts at all cost. During this period, I'm left peddling my bike or I must phone home for a ride. If only my parents had named me Elliot...do you think George (Lucas) drive a CRD or an eggs-on-wheels prius?

Rambling thoughts with tongue in cheek...
