Post subject:  CRD Transmision delay after setting

I apologize if this has already been covered. I have an 08 CRD and notice after setting overnight the transmission seems very sluggish to engage for the first minute or so, then it is fine.

Is this normal for this vehicle, the dealer does not have any others in at this time that I could try

Thanks

I hadnt heard of it before, but it doesnt suprise me.....my KJ CRD does it and I just talked to a commander owner who's does this as well.

Make sure your transmission fluid is filled properly..(is there a dipstick??)

Mine does as well, but not consistently. When it has sat for a while (airport) is when I notice it the most. I adjust my startup routine to buckle my seat belt and clear the CEL (ORM) and turn the radio up. As long as I give it a little time to circulate fluid, no problems.

Thank you yes it is an 08 Grand CRD

I wonder if it may be the ole drainback valve issue

I am meeting with the Service Manager tomorrow I will also see what he can find out

I suppose the system needs a few seconds for the fluid to get were it's going and the valves to get into their stride.

:D Mine does the same thing on a very intermittent basis. Let it warm up before driving and it's fine.

Mine did this after 4k miles. I left it alone, thinking it was probably just a quirky diesel thing. Then one cold night we came out, got in the truck, dropped it in gear, pulled off rrrreeeeaaaaaaalllll slow ('cause the tranny isn't fully engage) and pulled up to a red traffic light. As soon as I came to a stop, everything warmed up enough to fully engage everything and the dang truck tried to pull me into the intersection. I jammed on the brakes harder and harded until it stalled itself out.

I got it fixed back then. The dealer fixed it in one day under warranty. It was some kind of transmission pump. I don't know...I would try to find the paperwork to find out what it is, but the truck started doing it again, so it's in the shop again to get the same problem fixed.

Personally, I don't suggest leaving this problem alone. Especially if you're still under warranty.
