One night on the way home last week I came up behind a Jeep Eagle Vision and all of a sudden the smell of diesel fuel (Fuel not exhaust). The smell stayed with me for about a mile until the Vision turned off on a side street then was gone. In doing a little research I note that Renault did provide some diesel engines in those days but I can't find a history that the Vision ever offered a diesel. So was this just a coincidence or was there a Vision with a diesel engine?

as far as i know the vision was never offered in a diesel, some old amc eagle wagons were however, you sure your not talking about that?

Likely he was carrying a leaky container of Diesel fuel to the farm to fuel up his Kubota - on the other hand, I've never heard of a Jeep Eagle Vision...............

But from Allpar it seems the Vision was only ever offered in the gas engines.

"PerformanceThe Eagle Vision ESi came equipped with a 3.3 liter V6 engine initially producing 150 bhp (112 kW) and rising to 162 bhp (121 kW) in the 1994-1995 models. For 1996, it lost 4 hp (3 kW), but gained 9 ft·lbf of torque. The TSi was factory-equipped with the more powerful SOHC 24-valve 3.5 L V6 engine producing 214 bhp (160 kW). Both engines were joined to a 4-speed automatic, but only the '96 and '97 TSi with its 3.5 had the 4-speed autostick option, with no option of a real manual transmission.

Engines
3.3 L V6 - Horsepower and Torque: 150 bhp (112 kW) & 180 lb·ft (244 N·m) (1993), 162 bhp (121 kW) & 194 lb·ft (263 N·m) (1994–1995) and, 158 bhp (118 kW) & 203 lb·ft (275 N·m) (1996–1997)
3.5 L V6 - 214 bhp (160 kW) & 221 lb·ft (300 N·m)
The 3.3 liter engine was engineered to run on 87 octane gasoline, while the larger 3.5 requires mid-grade 89 octane fuel."

I had an '87 Eagle 4wd wagon, metallic brown, which I summarily repainted white, matching that one in the ad - had a 4.6 I6, BW 3sp auto trans, but I thought '87 was the last year made here in America - also had a '79, 80, and '84 4wd units for parts - still have several of the transfer cases

That 91mm vs 88mm bore must mean it had the Renault 2.5L TD rather than the 2.1L, like in the Cherokees\Commanches - pity the poor Renault owners, who got only the 1.5L and 1.9L version

Still, the Vision nom is unfamiliar

The Eagle had an old VM engine, non-intercooled D.I. mechanical injection engine.
