Just wondering if anyone has installed the JBA lift kit on the KK? It involves removing the sheet metal above and below the A-arm mounting pockets and both me and the mechanic are a bit worried about this! I emailed Marlin about this and he assured me that there was nothing to be concerned of as he had his 2002 KJ modified since 2007 and is still up and running safely. I appreciate Marlin quick response and would like to hear if anyone of you have done the same modification.

Thanks.

I chose to leave mine and let the A arms open the pocket themselves. I think this is the route most people take.

Some self clearance. I cut mine. More in the front pocket than the rear. The rear was harder to cut, so I did a little and let the rest self clearance.

How loud are they when they "self clear" from driving? I'd imagine some nasty sounds.

Not loud at all, part of the ones we lifted here were cut, some were not

Over 160,000 miles running JBA UCAs , (194,000 lifted miles) I cut them out on mine and no issues at all. We've installed 16-17 sets here at my place sets cut some, others were left and no difference at all

I cut my pockets, self-etching primer and rattle can paint. It keeps the paint on the A-arms intact that way. You do not have to cut below the actual pocket bottom, so structurally there is no real difference.

PDF 1 Pic 25-26. See post 2 on things I would have done differently.
Since that install I have done the Adjust-A-Strut 2.5. It is a little easier install because the strut does not need to be taken apart.

To get you in the ball park with the Adjust-A-Strut. I used 1-3/4” (1.75") from the top
thread, down to the top of the first spanner nut, to get me at 2.5" lift.
After is settles in its easy to move the nuts up/down to set it again. Be sure you measure from the bottom of the front flair to the center of the wheel before you start, that way you will know where you sit after it is done.

I didn't bother to cut the metal, will probably try to wrap a thick rubber over the arms so when they hit the wall, it'd protect the paint on the arms!

 You have the fancy new adjust-a-struts. Jealousy is kicking in.....

Btw the front looks low. What are you measuring from center of hub to fender? Might need to crank it up a bit more. The front is the same as the 4" kit, so if you wanted you can adjust up to 4" of lift.

Looks great! I like the look for the coils and the arms together.

Really? I didn't know that is the NEW one!

The front is just under 2.5" and I will increase it maybe to 2.75" later. 4" is a bit too much I reckon.
