Hi all,
Just picked up an '08 KK from my FiL...With a whopping 41000 miles. How could I resist?

Anyway, it's definitely got some sort of lift in it. Hub to fender is around 20.5 front and 21 rear. The coils appear to have Jeep/Chrysler part number tags on them. So is this pic showing blocks at the bottom of the coil? Or is there something at the top?

My first choice is to yank everything and go with a JBA/tommudd setup, probably with Bilstein's as they're in town here. But I want to make sure I still have the stock stuff I need to do that. Not missing isolators or something.

Your KK has some sort of spacer lift on it. You will love driving it a whole lot more if you replace with OME/bilstein components or JBA components, which are even better. The OME is night and day better ride and handing compared to any kind of spacer lift. The spacers will eventually break down the stock springs leading to premature sag as well.

Yes, that's what it looks like to me as well. I'll be working towards replacement ASAP. I probably (disclaimer) won't go full tilt with this rig as I also have two other 4x4's that are a little more hard core. This one will be a daily driver/fire road/road trip sort of rig.

You'll be much happier with the ride and handling after you get rid of that awful daycrap lift
OME or JBA coilovers

08's and some 09's KK's came with them I believe. They're 3/8" shorter than the updated stamped ones, and 3/4" lower ride height.
And that's for sure a Daystar lift in there.

OK, Please don't bust my chops on this if I'm wrong, because I'm just parroting something that I heard somewhere along the way.

Lets play true or BS.

I've been led to understand that some gen 3 (08-12) Libbys had clevis forks that were a direct drop-in to the gen 2 Libbys, and were 3/8" longer. True or BS?

KKs are the 2nd generation Liberty. Anyways, Morgan already said what was longest (I know he's played around with both because of his custom front end). And as far as I know he's correct. The KJ guys started swapping To the newer KK clevis a while ago to gain an extra. It if lift. It's the reason why some guys were able to set the OME lift up at 4+" (not saying it's any good and they had no spring/control arm contact).

Cool. Thanks for the info. Do I need to put in thicker clevis spacers to account for the difference when I get rid of the Daystar?

Are you doing a real lift ( spring and shock replacement from OME ) ?
No need to install a clevis spacer unless you think you need more height
Depending on what you replace that with , we can give you more correct answers to let you know what you'll need

Yes, planning on the JBA/YM economy set up. I just don't need the coilovers. Guess Ironman's are no longer available, so I'm still debating rear shock choice. Was leaning towards Bilstein 7100's, seems a bit silly to put remote reservoirs in the rear and not the front. Also wondering if the JBA rear springs have the same load capacity as the OME ones.

My 09 has the cast clevis, they are rusty though. Are they better than the stamped versions?
