anyone know the manufacturer of this rim? also, i have factory 16" rims. i want them to stick out further. basically i want them to stick out 1.5" to 2". i have no idea how backspacing works, i can not wrap my brain around it some how? haha.

id like to stick with a 16" rim, due to me just dropping almost 1k on tires and alignments. meaning keeping the current rubber.

Image

EDIT: although this rim (if available in 16") would look funky. so maybe id be forced to upgrade to 17" or 18". not sure of the available tires for that size though.

Having them stick out that far is going to cause issues with turning and also will need more bumpstop height in the rear to keep from tearing your flares off.
Doesn't look good anyways
You'd more than likely have to get a 3 or 3.5 inch basckspaced wheel, then most of those are only available in 8-9 inches wide which presents others issues with tires
Here is something you can do, make spacers out of stryofoam etc attached to the out side of your current tire, ( the same as you'd like for the wheels to stick out, NOW turn the front wheels and see where its going to hit, in the rear jack up right front to see how its going to hit the flares

XD Rockstar Rims are available in these finishes Black Chrome Machined Black . Boltpatterns offered for XD Rockstar Wheels are 5x112 5x120 5x115 5x115 5x120 5x120 5x135 5x135 5x5.5 5x150 5x4.5 5x4.5 5x120 5x4.5 5x4.75 5x4.5 5x5 5x5 5x5 5x135 5x5 5x4.5 5x5 5x5.5 5x5.5 5x5.5 5x135 5x5.5 5x150 6x120 6x132 6x135 6x135 6x5.5 6x4.5 6x4.5 6x5.5 6x5 6x5.5 7x150 8x170 8x180 8x200 8x6.5 Blank . From what I saw, they had offsets listed.

http://www.kmcwheels.com/wheels/XD775/XD7756
16x6
Offset: -94mm

I have a feeling those are the dually wheels though. That's crazy skinny for a rim. Either way, I'm not sure how those would fit.

As for backspacing and offset, they pretty much measure the same thing. I always assumed that they would match. Like a 7" wide rim with 4" of backspacing has a 0mm offset. However, I've seen a few other rims out there that would be say 8" wide, 4.5" of backspacing and have 6mm of offset. So either my understanding is wrong, or their specs are incorrect.

I know that the lower the number for backspacing, the farther out the wheel sits. So if you have 2 wheels; wheel 1 that's 7" wide with 4" of backspacing and wheel 2 that's 7" wide with 3" of backspacing, wheel 2 will sit 1" farther out than wheel 1.

thank you guys! So now that I have that info, how well would these rims hold up with offloading? I like the look of them but if they don't do so good off road, then theres no point in buying them mainly for looks! They do look good though!!!

As far as strength? $50 steelies are much stronger than these $250 rims.

For our KKs though, keeping a 16x7 at 4" backspacing or a 16x8 with 5" backspacing will be as far out as you'll want to go. It's also as far in you can go without rubbing your tire on your upper control arm. 17s, if you so choose to go that route, fall under the same width measurement restrictions. 17s will make you lose your tire choice selection too. Best rims for us are 16s, tried and true.

Backspacing and offset are different measurements that correlate to the same thing. Backspacing is the distance from edge of rim to rim mount. Offset if the distance of mounting surface from center, negative being towards the axle side and positive on the outside. Stock rims are 16x7 with 5.5" backspacing and 40mm offset. Hope this helps.

They're mostly on JKs and full sizes. It's more of that "bro truck" kinda thing. Not my cup of tea personally.

Those are more for show and quite honestly all they "show" me is that the vehicle is a street queen. If you want a better stance do your homework on the forums before you buy. There are more than a handful of threads and even a wheel and tires section on the LOST page. A good number of us run steelies, which are much cheaper than the Rockstars and can easiliy be rattlecanned on any scratches. But in the end it all comes down to what you want and where you are going in the Jeep.

Bmxer... "Bro Truck" Couldn't have described it better myself, I may have to steal that term from you :SOMBRERO:

If you like the stock rims, just get spacers. Mine has the exact stance that I was looking for.

Gage, 4 spidertrax spacers is almost cheaper then 1 of the rockstars. I'm sold on the spacers price wise. The stock rims some how get chewed up when I off road. Probably just my driving style though.

Steel rims NAM aren't my cup of tea! They work for some people but when I see them I picture those rims on a rusting clunker. That's just me though, stock rims are all right performance wise, but need some cosmetic work to make them look better.

I'm in the market for a joy ride truck after I move. It will be a ford F series diesel probably a 350 or 550. These rims will be on it! Taking the ladies in my rough ride and rattling KK is starting to grow on me. Apologizing with every rattle, bump, and wind steer are annoying. Get the truck, lift it right, looks over function since it would be a date night truck.

Glad to see there are others who think those wheels are not good looking on a Jeep
Although in my neighborhood there is a new JK with them ...stock wheel and tire on the back
bounces over every bump...yeah its one of those ..........

I'm honestly looking at Method Race Wheels. I want different wheels with a wider stance, but want to keep the weight down so steelies are out. But I also want the wheels to only hang out 1/2" tops. I think the specs I'm looking at are 16x8 with 4.5" of backspacing(0 offset). So they should be flush/hang out that 1/4"-1/2".

Tom, do you happen to know the specs on Moabs just so I can compare?

Texas, feel free. I'm pretty sure I've seen it somewhere a long time ago. I basically use it to describe the show trucks/Jeeps people make with stretched tires, ton of lift, and oversized rims lol.

Tom, are you referring to the rockstars or steelies?

Gage, I really like the rockstar rims, but not sure how it would look on an "SUV". Their gorgeous on trucks with proper rubber. If I sway a kk with those rims, maybe. But as of now, spacers; ill need to decide on spacers before May.

1.25inch is the size I went with. Make sure you get the correct bolt pattern.

If you're into a better looking rim for your KK, I'm a fan of my Mambas.

Here's a couple that will fit for our KKs:

Moabs are 16X8 with 5 inches of backspacing
Wish they were 7 inches wide would be perfect then

Rockstars ugly as crap and totally out of place on a Jeep
