I'm fairly certain that I have.

I've been too busy to check out the source of my potential oil leak. There was a fresh drop underneath it this morning when I got to work and the skid plate is well-covered. But I checked the oil at lunch and it seems fine. I'm bringing it to my buddy's shop after work so we can jack it up and I can get on a creeper.

I also made an appointment to have the DuraTracs mounted tomorrow morning. :D

I know recently one or two members said their oil pan needed to be replaced, so check that and the oil filter. Maybe do an oil change yourself. Start with the cheap stuff...

I brought it to my buddy's shop last night and he jacked it up and took a look. It was soaked underneath. He noticed that the oil filter was pretty wet so he started there. Of course he couldn't get his hand to it but reached in with a filter wrench. He said when he touched it the whole filter wiggled. So it seems like it was loose. He tightened it a bit so we'll see how it goes from here. Hopefully that's all it was.

Given that it seems like such a PITA to change oil yourself I have shops do it. But if the dealer couldn't put the darn filter back on correctly then it makes me second guess them.

At that point, I would have done an oil change. Hopefully the filter was just loose and the threads are okay. Keep us posted.

Well I didn't have any of the supplies at that point and my buddy had to leave to go work on a friend's race car anyway.

What's the best way to get at that filter anyway?

Without skids I have no problem reaching my arm in their. Face towards the rear of the Jeep, and feet toward the front.

Sounds like the skids have to go if I do it myself. I wonder if the dealer does that (if they even change the filter at all  ). We put a mark on the filter to see if it gets changed next time.

I've been saying more and more lately that as soon as I pay my Jeep off and I'm able to save a little, I want to find a Geo Metro or Toyota Echo to hypermile.
I'm ready to get serious about hypermiling when my funds allow. It gets tiring caring about a newer black vehicle. Had to chase someone away that had his greasy hands all over my Jeep the other day in front of my house. :furious:
It'd be kind of nice to have a crappy second vehicle that I wouldn't have to worry much about. I absolutely love my Jeep, but this is on my agenda before I die.

I can't believe someone would have the audacity to randomly touch someone else's vehicle.

Look just below half way down. I found an easy way to access the filter.

Thank you. I mentioned that to him so maybe I'll try to tackle it myself next time.

I recently moved somewhere that only had street parking and I live next door to a pregnancy aid center (no joke). I'm biting my tongue trying not to call this person any slang terms, but I guess he was waiting for the place to open and he needed an arm rest.
After I yelled at him he denied it... funny (not really) how he left his greasy hand prints behind on my hood. Needless to say I washed the Jeep the next day to get rid of any dirty hand juices from my hood. He's a lucky soul I'm not the violent type.

Be so dang boring to drive a car like that couldn't do it even for the mileage

I've got a few other choices such as a S10 or Neon (possibly SRT-4), but I know those are very easy to hypermile... Experts are getting 60+mpg with some body mods and engine off coasting.
Even in the Jeep hypermiling is so darn fun for me. I can't help but smile when I roll by people while they're at a dead stop and I'm still coasting cuz I know how to time the lights. I look forward to filling up each time to see if my techniques pay off.

On my commute to work I try to anticipate the lights and coast towards them versus coming to a stop. But there are some that are so slow to change that even though I coast, I still end up having to come to a stop. Of course once I've completely stopped the light turns green a second later. :furious:

Step one is being aware... you are still saving gas. When you have to brake, brake lightly and the transmission will down shift. I just recently started going around the block when I leave my house because if I go a certain way it's a no turn on red from 7a.m. to 7p.m.
Make sure your tires have enough air in them, too.

The plus side to the DuraTracs is that I very rarely need to apply the brakes if I want to slow down a bit. They take care of that for me.

I just downshift haha. We can select into 2 and 1 and believe me when my daily commute was the winding roads of a mountain I downshifted into 2 going down and put her in tow/haul going up (lessens how quickly trans shifts). My brakes like this too haha, I'm at 67xxx and she's still got ~1/4" lieft on the brakes.

Mom told me her check engine light came on in her Ford Taurus.
Used my ScanGauge2 to read the code. P0301 which is cylinder 1 misfire.
Hopefully it's a cheap and easy fix for her.

Let my mom drive my Jeep today without me in it. She must not have done too bad since the trip mpg was 17.3.
Also, I don't want to get my hopes up, but I may have a new job coming my way in the very near future. My paychecks would be doubled. :D
Gotta fill out some paper work tomorrow.

I started to get my housing and food allowance which leaves plenty of leftover cash for Jeep parts...or spoiling the girlfriend... :juggle:

Thank you. I should know more today after a phone call. Pretty much was already told the job was mine.
The extra money comes from $3 more an hour, full time, and leaving the union. Great benefits with this company when you go full time.
I pretty much know the 90% of the job already. It's more like a title, and I'd rarely have leave the warehouse. I'd be working as the second shift receiver.
