So, got the 4.7l throttle body on.

Not sure if it wasn't mentioned in previous posts or its just a 2012 thing, but there are 2 posts on the left side of the manifold that need to be chopped off. The posts are millimeters from proper alignment.

I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU. The ECU learned the new throttle body in 2 gas pedal presses. Brought the rpm up to 2k rpm with the first two presses.

I'll be easy on her for 4 more days then ill drive normally.

It's been mentioned several times. You can leave it as is and you should be able to mount it upside down like I did.

Had no idea that was the reason yours was upside down. Just thought it was based off of clearance. Well, its not an issue as long as the gasket is seated properly on the intake manifold and Tb. Looks factory installed when those posts are hacked off instead of rotating them. Luckily the Tb is a square bolt on shape and not some funky figure.

Any other 2012 KKs do this mod?

Mines always ran better at a little higher RPM instead of letting it lope/chug along

I had it on cruise going 60, gave her just enough gas to raise the rpms, she rose smoothly, it didn't jump from 1850 up to 2500 like it usually would.

Did I hear a road trip anyone??? :JEEPIN:

I could be wrong, but every year KK may have done this now.

I'd be shocked if I was the worlds first (stupid) KK owner to install a 4.7l Tb.

Now bmxr needs to install one! Hes the only regular member left if I recall correctly. :jester:

I'm still running the stock TB, so I guess that makes two of us. :-)r
I'm watching with interest, though. When my 3 year warranty on my Jasper remanufactured engine is up, I may jump on the 4.7 bandwagon.

I'll have to go through the pages and see which years have done this mod.
It definitely works on every year. That much I know.

I'm just waiting to make sure that there's no long term effects on 2011+ rigs. I know 08-10 can get a hypertech to help with the whole running lean stuff. It'll have to wait Til the end of the summer atleast though. I have an oil leak I need to track down. Thankfully I have my powertrain warranty still so it's a dealer problem...

sort of sucks we 2011 and 2012 KK owners are all out of luck with tuning. maybe one day down the road we would have an option.

I never going back to Chrysler for an oil change. they made a complete mess underneath. I should have checked the oil level before I drove it off but I just don't trust them at all. never have.

***when the battery is pulled, doesn't the ecu revert back to the factory tb data? or does it attempt to retain the 4.7l data?

just curious, would the device linked below be able to tune our 3.7s? or is it just a reader?

http://www.autoanything.com/performance-chips/60A4194A0A0.aspx

EDIT: after reading more in-depth, it seems as if the scanner plugs in to the ecu and not obd. id assume this would be the exact same as those jet stage 1 and 2 chips then?

The real stinker is that they will probably never make any tuning or really anything else for that matter for our 2011 & 2012 KK's it's a dieing breed now.

Hey guys! So those of you with kks I have a 2010 liberty sport and terrible gas mileage or normal? City around 12mpg but I'm sure that's because I was foolish and put 8.5" wide wheels on with the biggest tires I could fit without a lift and not get rub.

My question is how are those 4.7L throttle body's still treating you all? Is it time to snag one? My warranty is up so it's time to ask, also how hard was the install? Throw any codes or cel's? I plan on my hypertech at the same time as I do this. Thanks in advance!

Get the throttle body and the Hypertech.
The Hypertech is $50 here. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f292/sel ... s-3073457/

Update time ya'll!

I filled up 3/4 tank on Thursday last week. I am currently sitting at 1/4 tank! which is a gigantic improvement with winter mix gas. not sure if the gas companies have switched over to summer blend yet, but I cant wait to see the mileage on that.
for the past 2 months, I have needed to fill up 2ce a week. not sure if that's due to me having a feather foot. although I did have the rpms above 4500 more then a dozen times.

on average I do about 150 or less miles a week. since I have had the lift, I have no idea how many miles I do a week since the speedo is completely off.

ill be filing up today after work and put in some fuel stabilizer (since im due for one this week) and cylinder lubricant. I already spent $35 bucks on a gallon of Lucas fuel stabilizer, so im going to use it! not sure if it does anything, but a false sense of security cant hurt!

summer time with the stock TB, I got no less then 150, but no more then 200 miles in the "city". pure highway, 280 miles was the absolute max I got on a tank.

EDIT: I thought it was my mind playing tricks on me, but the 4.7l TB I got starts screaming around 2100 rpm, which I am assuming is 3/4 of the way completely open. not concerned with it screaming at all, but I know that screaming is not good... something in the motor or gear assembly is not happy at that demand. ogh and so far that I hear, its only around 2100 rpm.

never did that with the old TB.

I guess ill just need to keep the old TB and a few tools handy if the 4.7L TB fails.

My Luck...

I noticed in your mod list you don't have a hypertech? Maybe not having that touch of tune is causing the tb to not react as it should? I gave up trying to find a used hypertech but autoanything has them @299.99 free overnight. Hopefully that and a 4.7L tb can. I'm just spit balling I'm all new to these motors and just try to learn from what you all say. Thank you much for the update!
