No I have not. I guess I should add that for one of my next things to look into purchasing.
Giving it a bath tomorrow hopefully. Maybe washing that area well will do something.

Any more suggestions before I pay to get it looked at? :5SHOTS:

I wish I had something else to offer, but you've been so thorough in your investigation, I can't think of anything more to check.

Very mysterious problem, Lauren.
Probably going to call the local shop tomorrow to see when I can get in. Really need to go on a ride with one of the mechanics to make sure they're hearing the correct noise.

Dropped the Jeep off this morning. Took it for a test drive with one of the techs and couldn't get the sound to appear. Hopefully I'll have some more info tonight.

Just got the Jeep back. They replaced the "brake hardware" to resolve my issue. (I already replaced the hardware)
I'm EXTREMELY skeptical that this is the fix.
I'll be doing a few errands and some driving and will be on alert for the noise. Not feeling very confident about it.

I've taken it to the shop twice now with no luck.
I give up!

In the morning I plan on doing an oil change and 5 tire rotation to see if it changes anything.
I even replaced the center cap with a spare one I have just to rule that out of the equation.

I had the same issue. It was the outer tire rods ends. I replaced them with a set of Moogs I got from summit racing for $35.00 each.

Do you have a thread about it?
I'd be willing to give it a shot.
Easy to replace?

No thread, sorry. Pretty easy though. You'll need an alignment afterwards. You'll also need a few tools and maybe a torch. I couldn't remove one of mine so I had the shop that did the alignment do it. Summit had the best price in my area by about half. Use Moog or Mopar as there's some stress on it and the Chinese crap won't hold up.

Okay. So I should probably replace both if I'm replacing one. I'll get the correct brands. Would you say it's necessary to replace the passenger side as well?

Am I supposed to be able to move the outer tire rod by hand?
Driver side AND passenger side I can grab and turn them counter and clockwise without any effort which compresses and relieves the bushing the outer tie rod is connected to. When I do that, the inner and outer tie rod end rotate within the boot connect to it.
What the heck? Excuse my ignorance, but is this something catastrophic?

Yes, replace both of them. They're the same age, haven't been greased since manufacture and you'll need an alignment afterward.
Without seeing them, I couldn't tell you how bad they are. It can be catastrophic but that doesn't mean yours are. Have you ever seen cars on the side of the road with the front wheel turned so far that the fender or door is bent and the other one still straight? That's usually a broken tire rod end. Do they move so easily that they rattle? That would be very bad. Try squirting some lithium grease or a similar product under the boot until you repair the problem, it might help to at least stop the noise.

Had the tie rod ends checked out, and they are fine.
What I did find out last night is that there is some sort of guard/heat shield on the starter that I removed last night. It came off with zero effort. It in fact makes a similar noise to what I hear.
Will test drive tomorrow.

I'll update very late tomorrow night.
Last night I was bored and was just checking out everything. As soon as I grazed across it, it fell right off. Maybe it just wasn't on there secure enough.
