Took the bug shield off the hood. It was getting worn and faded. Changes the look a little bit from what I'm used to. I'll replace it someday...maybe

been emailing DetoursUSA (they make the backbone winch plate) about possibly making a tire carrier to work with the stock rear bumper.

almost caught up on fixing every little issue that the KK has, which seems to be popping up quicker then i can troubleshoot and order new parts for.

decided since ive spent so much on repairs and i like to go wheeling every weekend i can, when im not working on the jeep that is, im gonna do a budget XJ build. local trails only and a rig i wont have to care about. $2k budget, with price of jeep included in that. 3" lift and chopped fenders. craigslist some 33x12.5, have access to 15x8 rims on the free. lunchbox lockers front/rear, homemade skids/sliders/snorkel. might take a while to find cheap used parts and a reasonably priced XJ that doesnt need more work then its worth, dont care about cosmetics. buddies been looking at new trucks so i might be able to jew him down on his and his already has a lift. rear main leaks, other oil leaks, rear shocks jacked, a/c pump squeals and doesnt work, driver floor board rusted, both diff pinions leak, few small dents. i think he hates it honestly so it should be easy if he doesnt cheap out of buyin a truck.

KK will become DD and recovery vehicle. Will still be wheeling it for Meet & Greets and such, if friends want to wheel the XJ and whenever i feel so inclined.

Just got it back from the dealer. 2 DAYS of being there! :x But, they did fix all the little things:

E-brake that never worked
E-brake boot that never stayed on
Driver's seat belt thought I wasn't buckled when I was
Passenger seat belt height adjuster that imploded on itself
Rear wiper that occasionally wouldn't turn off

All is well now, mostly. They said it took 8 hrs longer than expected because they didn't realize that in order to replace the e-brake cables and assembly, you have to remove basically the whole interior from the seats down. I went by and saw it earlier this morning, and they're right. They had everything out of it. It was cool to see what's underneath all the carpeting and panels.

Now there is just one plastic panel left that they mis-ordered the wrong part for, and that will be done next week. At least I got a new center console, a new e-brake, and new carpeting out of all this. And still 650 miles left before the warranty goes away! :D Best part is: The handbrake works really well now! 3 clicks and both rear wheels lock dead tight. No drag either when the handbrake is not on.. which is an improvement in itself.

Last fill up averaged 17mpgs on 4.10s and 265/75 tires w/uncorrected speedo, front diff removed. Hopefully won't change much reinstalled. Figure 8% difference in tire height and you get 18.5mpgs, only 1 mpg less from stock and its lifted 4" and had hundreds of pounds added to it. Not to shabby in my opinion.

rode shotty in my buddies 4runner on some trails today. they have massive amounts of flex in the rear, like 18". he has a 4" lift or so and 33" tires. the front is still any other ifs flex, like 3.5" or so, we didnt measure it with the sway bar disconnected though. also used his winch for the first time pulling out a stock JK Unlimited stuck to its bumpers in swamp muck. go figure it started raining when we just rolled up to him and seen he was stuck.
