My friend came by today to help me install the mopar fuel skid.
It was the last one I needed to do, as I already have the other skids.
FYI, I'm glad they used quick connects, otherwise it would've been PITA!
Make sure your fuel tank is almost empty, and get a friend with great upper body strength to help lol

How we felt when we did this, in this order===> :banghead: :5SHOTS: :furious: :D  :JEEPIN:

I think there was a write up here where they used ratchet straps to hold the tank up and just dropped the bracket. I'm just glad I didn't have to do that one myself; I got mine done for free when the dealer was replacing the tank for the gas spitback TSB.

We were ready to do the strap method, but after we loosened the bolts,
we saw the quick connects on the tubes and decided to just drop the tank
instead. (trust me, it would've been more time consuming trying to fanagle the straps in there)
First, we unclamped the rubber hose and disconnected the tank from the filler neck.
What gave us a bit of a pain was trying to figure which tubes goes to where,
but after dropping it halfway, we clearly saw how many tubes needed to be disconnected.
We did the fuel pump wiring last, as it was in the middle
and it had enough slack that enabled us to do it on the ground.
The key is to have the tank almost empty and have a helper. :)

Got some new shoes today. The shop i went to had 245/75/16 duratracs in stock. They test fit the front first and they actually fit with no rubbing! I checked at full turn and still nothing. My wheel wells were muddy too so it was easy to see if i rubbed. I know ill probably rub while flexing but i plan on a lift soon. Ill just take it easy till then

Does anyone know if there is a specific tool to reach the end of the seat belt (where the red button is) The base of my seat belt is extremely squeaky and I always have to push it firmly down in order for it to stop briefly. Just looking for an easy way to access it to tighten whatever is down there! :dizzy:

Oh I thought taking the seat off was a lot more than just loosening a few bolts. I haven't taken a look yet sorry.

I had the same squeaky seatbelt you describe, that's how I was able to get some grease down in there without making a mess. It's just four bolts with 18mm heads. Iirc the joint is supposed to be loose to allow it to pivot freely.

Thank you. Also, since I'm already talking to you morgan, is there a way to lock shackles? I'm worried someone is gonna take them if I leave them on the recovery system..

I had a squeaky seat belt too and eventually just squirted WD-40 into the receiver itself and it doesn't squeak anymore. Don't know why I didn't do it MONTHS ago.

For those of you on JeepForum, yes I have an account now. After months of silently watching and being peeved that my username couldn't be "NAMoulton" I just made it "NAMoulton1" haha.

Not that I know of, I would just keep them in the cabin if you're worried about thievery..

Wire them to the battery! Just don't forget to unhook them before you grab ahold haha

You could use a wrench or screwdriver to lock them. You might have trouble getting them off yourself though. I leave mine inside the Jeep and only take them out when I need them.

On another note, LI got hit with a massive storm last night that's still going on. SInce we haven't seen rain in a while the ground isn't absorbing as fast as normal and we're having massive flooding. My sister's boyfriend's car is underwater and my basement is flooding. That meant a 6am wake up call to come home from my girlfriend's house. Luckily I got to do some urban waterfording. I pushed water with the bumper and it was over half way up the tires. The other cars had to turn around, but I didn't

Sorry to hear about the flooding. Water can really take its toll on property. Glad the Libby made it through ok, though.

Since I recently moved I've been thinking of throwing the Duratracs back on so that I can get them out of the old house. I'm just not sure I'm ready for the hit in mpg just yet.

From living on the water and boats my whole life, I'm used to flooding and deep water. The bright side is that it's all freshwater. It doesn't rust the cars away at least. Normally the floods we get are salt water and you avoid taking vehicles through that like a plague.

Yeah salt water does a number on vehicles. I work for an insurance company in the claims department and have seen what it can do. I had to total a brand new high end SUV as result of salt water flooding around the tune of $50k.

I just ordered some in-channel vent visors and some new wipers. I'm usually not a fan of vent visors but the in-channel ones look nice. Plus after using the KK as a tent a couple weekends ago, they would have been nice to have if it had been raining.
