In other news, I flushed my heater core yesterday and now my heater is working like a champ! I also installed a bigger intake tube for my 4.7 throttle body.

I was sceptical about whether or not it would make any improvements and in still on the fence about if it actually has but it definitely sounds more throaty at open throttle.

On top of all that I have a" gascap" warning showing up on my odometer and I'm not sure why... BlacKKat just has to cause trouble

Do you have a stock intake? If so, what adapter did you use?

I'm curious about this also.

I had the stock box at first with a specter adapter.

Now I have a bigger tube that matches the size if the throttle body

I had to modify the tube slightly to make it work for the kk cutting two hose connections so I could insert the air temperature sensor and attach a vacuum line that used to run on the stock airbox

About an inch longer? If it's anything like how lifting works, then that would be a 2" difference.

It's a bit less than 2x because its not as far out as the knuckle. I should have measured the sway bar before and after, but I do know the angle is much closer to stock. I think I'm going to try and do the rears next.

I just brought an M116A3 military trailer back to PA from VA. The KK did a great job with the tow, considering the empty trailer was about 900 lbs (3160 gross max weight). I used the tow/haul button to lock out overdrive, and had plenty of power. I got 14.1 mpg going 65 mph this way -- not bad considering I get 16.5 mpg on the interstate when not towing anything.

Parked in front of Dunkin Donuts, naturally.

Image
(Temp is a little high because I went into a rest area and it sat for 5 mins before I took the pic; the Jeep ran at 200 degrees while driving.)

Some other milestones from the trip:
I passed 100,000 miles on the Jeep (14,000 on the new engine).

I hit a disembodied driveshaft that appeared on the road from under the truck in front of me! Thump! Thank goodness for skid plates! He kept driving, but he must have hit it too, since it was flipping around on the pavement like a dead fish when it went under mine. I don't think it actually fell off his truck. It was probably a front driveshaft, due to its short length.

Wow - that's low freeway mpg (w/o trailer) I get 20 mpg with my stickshift 2008 Liberty.

Yeah, it's due to the roof basket (-2 mpg) and 245/75/R16 Duratracs (-2) and the 4 inch lift plus heavy skid plates and rock sliders (-1). But I like the Jeep this way! Regearing to 4.10's will help a bit once I can get that done (but it is expensive).

Shoot! That's what I get around town. But you are rocking ATH bumpers as well. Are your Duratracs load range E? Mine are load range C's (6 ply), which are lighter than E's (10 ply).

I also tend to follow trucks on the highway, which gives me back +1 to +1.5 mpg. (I follow about 3 seconds back, so I get some benefit from drafting semis, but still have enough time to react if a dead deer or detached retread comes out from underneath it.) I like to find a semi truck that is making about 65 mph that also has side skirts on it, because they produce a cleaner air stream (+1.5 mpg) than trucks without them (+1). The truck trailers also have to be rectangular for this to work well. I find I get very little benefit from following car carriers or oil tankers (+0.5 mpg). I didn't attempt to follow any trucks today while pulling the trailer, so the 14.1 mpg in the pic is just me pushing the air.

P.S. That rogue driveshaft that I hit happened in town folowing a pickup truck, not on the highway while frollowing a semi truck.

Scar0, I like the winch setup. Anyone think it's possible to to this set up on a KK? http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/omel ... d-1225413/

Basically cuts the crossmember, but puts in a winch plate in it's place. Take a look. Seems pretty sturdy/safe to me. You just have to plate everything correctly.

I know there's a manufacturer out there somewhere I saw that makes a winch plate for the stock bumper. a lot like Scar0s, but possibly more fragile. the KKs are used in a lot of governmental tasks. not 100% sure how stable that plate is, but its better then nothing.

its a cool idea, but our KK bumpers are crap, we would end up chipping something that wasn't intended to be.

ooooo, just found the site!!!!!!!!

So true!! I don't think a KK could run that size without a SFA conversion! :ROTFL:
I was at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, down by Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

If you're talking about the battery pep boys has 30% off online orders and you can pick it up in store to avoid shipping. I ended up paying around 170$ which is a great price

Yes, it has mechanical surge brakes. They work well, too. I'm happy not to need an expensive brake controller and a more complicated wire harness.

relieved im not the only one that gets 12 city. im probably the only KK on here that gets 22-24 mpg highway currently. I wonder what the 4.7l TB will give me on the highway?

the 22 -24 mpg highway is only valid for 100% highway driving. highway and city is 16 to 17 mpg.

so glad I don't get 12 or 16 mpg going to Virginia! im ok with 22-24 mpg.

I wonder if my solar panel had enough power to use it for highway? maybe not, at 68 volts on a very sunny day and roughly 8 amps, I don't think any motor could propel a 5K lb or more vehicle going 70 mph not including drive train loss.
