Today I removed my Rola roof basket and homemade crossbars. The basket is in need of a date with the 3M grinding wheel and some new Rustoleum hammered black paint.

I plan to leave it off for the month of June as an experiment to see how much my mpg improves. Gage, I'll keep you updated! :jester:

Drove to the shops yesterday, and when I got back in it wouldn't start. Every dash light came on plus the rear wiper, I started to sweat...$$$
The car club guy found out that the original factory battery had finally died, 7 years and 105k kms.
Whew!

I got 19 mpg today on the highway (Scangauge), 45 min trip. The best I was getting with the roof basket on is about 17. Not bad... Of course, more data is needed!

I finally bit the bullet & treated my KK to some new boots - Discoverer STT 245 70 17 & OME lift kit. After reading everything I can find on here I'm expecting a lift closer to 2.5" than the advertised 1.5" - is that correct?

Image

I'm now trying to work out what to do with the rear springs if I do a clevis lift of 1/4" on the front; advice would be appreciated... Am I right in thinking;

a) that the rear spring isolator pads are just an additional spacers that sits between the spring & factory top plate(?). Basically just some kind of donut that kind of increases the spring length?
b) if I add 1/4" clevis lift to the front I'd need 1/2" isolator on the rear?

Thanks for the advice :-)

As long as they are 927 and 731 springs you're correct and will have 2.5" of lift.

The isolator is the rubber donut that holds the spring and stops the metal on metal contact between the spring and spring seats. If you add the 1/4" clevis lift to the front then add 1 extra upper spring isolator to both sides in the rear. Basically you'll come out with 2 on the top and 1 on the bottom. That'll give you 3" of lift and a level stance. Each isolator adds just about 1/2" of lift to the rear.

I got it aligned this morning after the lift install this weekend. The ride is a little bouncy here and there but I suspect that will subside as it settles. It seems a little firm but already the ride is so much better than stock. I hit a few bumps today that used to jar me like crazy. Now they're not an issue. It's a very nice change.

Because I waited 6 month the clear coat catalyst hardened on me, so I'm going to town tomorrow and buy the clear so I can finish this door up!

Cheers Bmxer, I've got 730's on the rear, It's rare that I'm carrying more than 1 passenger in the Jeep & perhaps 1 or 2 dead foxes from an evenings lamping so I think (hope :?: )I'm OK with medium rear springs?

Nothing too exciting, finally mounted my full size spare tire underneath, washed and waxed it.

Finally reinstalled my front drive shaft. Stupid transfer case side has a CV head and that was a pain to reinstall.
