Pulled my sway bar links to track down the source of my suspension clunking noise in the rear and while I didn't eliminate the noise I did snap the top bolt to the rear passenger side sway bar link, right now I'm running no sway bar in the rear and I don't notice a difference, I'm pretty sure PA will fail my inspection without it though but this could be a nightmare to fix

Thanks lfHoward! I was lurking when I was deciding on wheels and tires and for the headlight mod, but that was definitely my first post haha.

And here she is with lights installed on the ATH roof rack 8) :

Decided to try my hand making some unistrut mounts/crossbars and a no-weld basket for my '09 sport. Still need to add a few things but it's fully functional at this point. I'm fairly happy with the outcome but if I did it again I'd decrease the height from 8' to probably 5".

That is a great looking Liberty! I so wish I saw that color before I chose white, haha. I think that is by far the best looking factory available paint on KK's.

Oil change today. All Systems Go and the Jeep has almost 140,000
miles on it. I found out my Duratracs still have 13/32 of tread. Not bad for having 70,000 miles on them already! They are just getting broken in. :-)r

mks913 and AdamKK: how are you liking those ATH roof racks so far? They sure do look awesome. Is there much wid noise or loss of mpg on the highway?

Not bad! Don't they come with 16/32 of tread? Wearing really well! Mine seem to be doing well. Look about half tread or so when I glance at them. I'm up to about 45k miles. I'm also really hard on my tires (I take turns fast, and might be a little heavy on the gas, especially in the rain and definitely in the snow), and they haven't been rotated in a while.

I'm due for an oil change too...

That's a good question, bmx! I am not sure how deep the treads are on a new Duratrac. To me it looks like I have about 50% tread remaining too, just eyeballing it. I think the reason they are lasting so long is all the highway miles I have on them. City driving with lots of corners and starts and stops wears them down faster. I'm hoping to beat Tommudd's 80,000+ miles on his Duratracs.

I plastidipped the grill black and the cross section insert, and tow hooks red (this looks great btw). I changed the driver side spark plugs, (COULD NOT figure out the passenger side plugs, not yet at least. Any Advice?)

Discovered that I've dented/deformed my gas tank when I got hung up on a hidden tree stump back in August...hoping that what I've been reading about plastic tanks is true and that once I take the time to pull the stock metal shield that the tank will reform itself...or I can use a heat gun on low setting? This makes me really nervous. I really really don't want to have to replace the tank and I really just don't want to have to pay someone else for my trail damage.

Also, I ordered and received the last gas tank skid plate (about $280) that Morris 4x4 had in stock and I painted it orange because it needed another paint coat and it'll be easier to keep track of scrapes and how my off road driving is. (moving to Colorado next summer)

Lastly, I have a bunch of aux. exterior lights waiting to be installed and wired up. And I'm working on customizing my roof basket.

Past few weekends was a "fun" project lol. Had to do a motor swap at only 112k. god only knows what PO did to this thing....

Image

Image

Just barely cleared pulling the original motor like this
Image

Image

Lining the new motor up to the trans was a huge PIA
Image

Image

Started it for the first time right after this pic. Was definitely holding my breath but it actually started right up
Image

Freeeeedooooommmm!!!
Image

Just after the maiden voyage, engine-wise everything felt good
Image

So now i just have a few vacuum hoses to replace (happened to stumble across them has i had a CEL for months before the motor went lol) and possibly a bad cat from the original engine issues on the passenger side. Hopefully the cat is salvageable and just O2 sensors.

Once thats all done I get to install the lights i'm getting for Christmas :-)r

Turned over 65k last week (I drove this poor girl way too much in the short time I have owned it...)...

Changed the oil. Giving Mobil1 a try along with a Puralator BOSS filter (I usually use Bosch filters but my advanced auto stopped carrying them for some reason). Hoping I can last the winter without another oil change (I really hate changing the oil when it is freezing). Even if I just get an extra thousand more miles out of this oil change I'll be happy.

New spark plugs and new serpentine belt are going in next week. My belt isn't too bad yet (no cracks) but it's starting to whir more than normal and squeaks on the really cold mornings. Better to be safe than sorry and I don't see the point in putting it off when even a belt straight from Mopar is less than $50.

It's looking like I'll be climbing under her in the spring to sand, sand, sand and repaint the undercarriage. NY has been putting a HUGE amount of salt down this winter so far... washing her twice a week is barely cutting it. Where I notice it the most is behind the plastic rocker panels... so those are gonna come off. Hopefully I'll be able to weld some real rock sliders in their place this year too  Thank god I sanded down and repainted my sway bar links, sway bars, control arms, differential covers, and rear axle tubes though... hopefully that will fight off the salt.

Probably gonna need new rear shocks regardless if I lift her or not too. The actual shock bodies were starting to rust through in the fall... I just painted them for the winter... but yeah... gonna need some new ones by spring I think :banghead:

My wife bought me a RS Chip for Christmas. It is basically a soft ECU flash device that plugs into your OBDII port and changes the fuel timing, shift points, etc. It can connect to your iOS or android phone and comes with 4 tuning files for our Libertys. Stock, ECO, Sport, and Sport+. You can also connect the RS Chip to your pc via USB port and load your desired tuning file from the PC software to your RS Chip.

So I plugged the RS chip into the OBDII port, let it run its examination of the stock ECU, and then selected Sport+ on my phone. It takes a couple minutes for the RS Chip to rewrite what it wants to. I wasn't expecting much but - wow! - it really did wake my Jeep up! According to the website it will bring a Liberty up around +20 HP and +30 ft/lb's of torque. I can't say if that is accurate (nor do I care) but acceleration has definitely greatly improved, the shift points are much nicer, and over all enjoyment while driving my Jeep has sky rocketed. I'm not saying it's a sport car now but it feels way better.

If the settings ever get reversed it will be easy to reload them and I have doubts that they will ever get reverted. Unlike the Jet chips which kind of piggyback onto the system... this sweet little device actually tunes your ECU. I can keep you guys posted but I really think this is a great product so far.
