A clunking and rattling sound turned out to be a rusted-through exhaust pipe. The resonator broke loose! So today I got it replaced. While I was down there I noticed my spare tire was installed upside down from the way I like it. This orientation leaves the polished side of the rim open to damage from the road or trail. Also, the spare tire hanger can mar the surface where the center cap goes. Luckily, no damage to speak of. I reinstalled it properly by my way of thinking. The only potential issue of keeping the spare in this orientation is not having access to the valve stem to check the tire pressure, but I carry an air compressor and can fix it if I ever need to use the spare. |

Today I removed the rock sliders and front recovery bar to have them sand blasted and powder coated. I have ATH’s new roof rack going in for coating as well. The old rack is off. The Jeep is looking kinda naked! Also got an oil change. 160937 miles! |

Today was a trip to Fastenal for some replacement hardware for my soon to be powder coated ATH front recovery bar and rock sliders. I sheared off a bunch of bolts while trying to take them off the Jeep. It’s amazing what 7 years under a vehicle can do to a bolt! This time I went with stainless. Also, I don’t know if anyone with an ATH roof rack is still here, but if you are, can you post up some pics? I am going back and forth about adding LED lighting to it, and I’m wondering how the different options look. I’m considering a single row, slim light bar (40”) for the front, and a couple of pods on the rear as backup lights. For both I’m not planning on spending tons of money for a Rigid or Baja, because after all I live in Philly and if they disappear I don’t want to kick myself too hard. But it would be nice to have some aux lighting for my camping trips, especially backing the trailer into a new campsite at night. |

Today I noticed that I passed 163K miles, which means I’ve been lifted for 103K miles and I’ve been running the same set of Duratracs for 90,000! I had 5 tires that I kept in rotation every 3-6,000 miles until last year when one got an unfixable gash in the sidewall. Now the remaining 4 are still going strong, if a bit loud on the highway. They have about 40% tread depth left, but are starting to get a little dry rot after 6 years in the sun. I will certainly get Duratracs again when the time comes. 245/75R16, load range C, Goodyear Duratracs. (4” JBA lift) |

Very nice, and discrete! Please enlighten me, why would I want a front view camera? I thought that was why the manufacturer put that large hunk of glass in front of the dashboard. |

Hey, that's a great setup with the trail cam. New Rubicon Wranglers have this as an option so it helps with offroad situations where you may not have a spotter. The camera is angled down to see the terrain immediately in front of the Jeep. |

Did a little maintenance today. Replaced cabin filters with new ones. If you need motivation to check your cabin filters, here it is. 12,000 miles on these, which is the recommended replacement interval. Maybe that's too long! Replaced broken windshield washer nozzles with new. Not being able to clean the windshield for the last week has been annoying. Also, the misfires caused by spraying washer fluid on the engine were not the most fun I've had. Here's the new. Looks like a shinier black plastic than the original matte black units. |

My nozzles are both worthless. How did you access them since they hide under the soundproofing mat, under the hood? |

The soundproof mat is just held on by 9 plastic pushpins which you can extract with a trim tool. Once it is off, you can easily access the hose and the bottom of the nozzles. If there is part of a plastic nozzle broken off inside the rubber hose, use needle nose pliers to crush it and it should fall out. Then flush with washer fluid. The old plastic nozzles were brittle like they were made out of Cheerios. You can also use the needle nose pliers to bend (more likely break) the tabs that hold the old nozzles onto the hood. Once out, replacement is literally a snap. |

Did you use MOPAR nozzles, or something from the local parts store? |

I looked into getting Mopar nozzles but the best i could find was $40 each. I went with NAPA nozzles for $40 for the pair. They ended up being aimed a little low, but it’s not a big deal. |

AtTheHelm’s front recovery bar is back from the powder coater and back on! Front bumper cover had to come off. This time I’m using stainless hardware. And done. Love the look. ATH hasn’t made these in a long time so I’m glad I snagged one back in the day. |

I wonder if that bar doubles as the tow bar option for kits setup for pulling a KK behind a motor-home? |

Lando-Liberty wrote: I wonder if that bar doubles as the tow bar option for kits setup for pulling a KK behind a motor-home? It probably could. Some of these were made with a front facing receiver as well, so that they could accept a portable winch plate. |
