I've visited www.dodge.com/Nitro to check out some of the things we might see on the '08 Libberty. The biggest thing that caught my eye was a "Load-n-Go" flooring system. I know the powertrain and suspension will be identical but I wonder what else? BTW: Saw a nitro on the road yesterday and thought it looked similar in size to my current Liberty. |

I just wonder how much longer they are and if it is all in the cargo area. I know that they are supposed to be a little wider too. Also wondering about the weight? |

I did a quick comparison between the 07 Liberty / 07 Nitro and came up with these figures Liberty is inside / Nitro is outside Length 174.7 in. / 178.9 in. Width 71.8 in. / 73.1 in. Height 71.8 in. / 69.9 in. Weight 4033 lbs. / 4162 lbs. Wheel Base 104.2 in. / 108.8 in. Ground Clearance 9.4 in./ Being Researched Angle of Approach 37 degrees / 26 degrees Angle of Departure 32 degrees / 27 degrees Interior Liberty Nitro Front Headroom 40.7 in. / 40.6 in. Rear Headroom 42.2 in. / 40.8 in. Front Shoulder Room 56.5 in. / 57.2 in. Rear Shoulder Room 56.5 in. / 56.4 in. Front Hip Room 57 in. / 56.8 in. Rear Hip Room 47.4 in. / 47.4 in. Front Leg Room 40.8 in. / 40.8 in. Rear Leg Room 37.2 in. / 37.7 in. Cargo Volume/Max Luggage Capacity 31 cu.ft. / 32.1 cu.ft. I bolded the items that I found supprising. I imagined the next generation Nitro / 08 Liberty would have more interior room for the driver since this is my biggest complaint about my Libberty. |

BTW: Saw a nitro on the road yesterday and thought it looked similar in size to my current Liberty. I read the Liberty will have a different rear suspension, more tuned to off-road. Nitro is a 3 link Liberty will be a 5 link or something like that. |

I ended up with a Nitro for a rental car back in the end of November. It was a beige/silver with the gray plastic lower portion, 4wd, 3.7l(I believe this is an engine option, as it was not the 4.0l), a/t. First off, you definately sit lower in the vehicle. The seat height it is lower, and places everything, your dash, your window sills, steering wheel, up higher around you. It handles rather nicely, a bit better than my jeep, with little body roll on the curvy roads of South-Western Missouri, and it also rides very smooth. I'm not sure if it was the extra weight, or a different gear ratio/driveline components, but it felt pretty anemic. It was o.k. off the line, but not as peppy as my jeep at any speed. The interior was very nicely done and I really liked the controls and look of it. The stock soud system was pretty nice as well. This was over a week of driving it with a ~300 mile trip from St. Louis to Casseville area, and the same trip back. |

My heart is kinda split on the Nitro's. The seem to have this Jeckel and Hyde thing going on. The limited look awsome with their painted fenders but the sports look terrible with their grey fenders. How can a vehicle look so good and so bad all at the same time. The wierd thing is I like the Libbies with the plastic fenders. |

According to Jalopnik, the Nitro and Sebring 4dr are sales failures. Not even the Mopar execs are willing to go to bat for these vehicles. I wonder if the KK liberty is destined for the same fate. http://jalopnik.com/cars/thar-they-blow ... 267206.php |

http://jalopnik.com/cars/thar-they-blow ... 267206.php The Sebring is butt ugly-- it looks like the four year old Impala and the Mercedes C class had a baby. The last Sebring looked much better, especially the soft tops. The Nitro would have been a hit four years ago when it was being planned, but DCX was to stupid to figure the 3.00+ gas prices were here to stay and that was not going to be good for sales of things like the Commander/Nitro. Right now Chryslers styling department is missing on all cylinders-- and I don't think that has happened in recent times. |

Almost all the interior space numbers show no big advantage for the KK over the KJ. The approach/departure angle favor the KJ by quite a bit. The only thing I really like about the KK is the Cargo Area Improvements. |
