Your cabin vents.Prevents the glass from being blown out when you close the door with all the windows up,and prevents over pressurizing of the cabin. It's also a great place for dust to come in when you are driving on gravel roads.

i was driving in colorado up 285 towards conifer with all windows up except the drivers side about 3" down. i had just passed nipple rock when the cabin started making this helicopter sound then out of no where the tailgate window imploded. glass flew everywhere. scared the hell out of me. took it to phil long in littleton and they replaced it for free. as said it was the vehicles fault. so my vents werent working too well to say the least. i belive the kj has them under the rear bumper on the sides.

that doesn't sound like a good time - I've noticed how prone to buffetting the KK is - didn't realize it was like all that though...

its really easy. Two bolts under the tailgate and pull straight back towards the rear. The are these posts on the end of the tailights at pop into a connector on the body. Most tailights are built that way.

Those are the pics of how to remove them. there is two little screws in the tailgate side, then ... pull. carefully.

I did that to install hitch wiring. I had to "T" into them.

I just thought it had something to do with venting. just curious is all. but from what I have seen on closing the tailgate, and window. It needs to be bigger.
